Freshman running back Emmanuel Johnson (Staten Island, N.Y.) pounded the ball over the goal line with 36 seconds remaining in the contest to lift visiting Morrisville State College football in a 34-33 come-from-behind thriller over host Western Connecticut State University Saturday afternoon in Danbury.

Katie Flaschner (East Amherst, NY/The Nichols School) scored one goal and set up three others as the University of Rochester defeated Morrisville State, 8-1, in field hockey at Edwin Fauver Stadium.

Host Morrisville State College women’s volleyball appeared for the first time on the Mustangs newly renovated court and didn’t hesitate as they claimed a convincing 3-0 victory over visiting Paul Smith College Friday evening in Morrisville. The Mustangs improve to 5-13 overall with the win, while the Bobcats drop to 3-15.

Hilary Corna, national speaker and author of One White Face, will give a presentation on Oct. 22 at the Morrisville State College campus.  The presentation, “Create Your Own Opportunity and Embrace Your Potential: I Dare You” will be held at 1 p.m. in the Little Theatre of the John W. Stewart Center for Student Activities (STUAC). 

The Morrisville State College athletics department has named freshman Kylie Murphy (Nichols, N.Y.) and sophomore Gilroy Alvarez (Guatemala) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 7. Murphy, freshman outside hitter for the women’s volleyball team, completed the week with 30 kills, 10 service aces and 57 defensive digs to lead the Mustangs.

Morrisville State College head ice hockey coach, Brian Grady, has announced his resignation after five seasons at the helm of the program. Under direction of Grady, the Mustangs posted an overall record of 35-88-3, as he guided the program to the State University of New York Athletic Conference play-offs twice.

The Morrisville State College men’s soccer program together with the campus and community, raised more than $2,400 for the Italian American Coalition for Kids (IACK), a not-for-profit organization that assists families in need in the Upstate New York region.

The Morrisville State men’s soccer team fell to nonconference opponent SUNY Canton Wednesday night, 1-0, in Morrisville, NY. The Mustangs drop to 9-4-1 overall and remain 4-1-1 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play.

The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) office has announced its weekly award winners, naming Morrisville State College’s Sanley Pierre-Louis (Gaithersburg, Md.) the Men’s Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week and Danny Peckham (Webster, N.Y.) the Men’s Soccer Defensive Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 7.

The Morrisville State College Theatre Department and Student Government Organization (SGO) will present the play, A Midsummer Night's Dream, in the Little Theatre of the John W. Stewart Center for Student Activities (STUAC) on the Morrisville State College campus. Show times are: Oct. 19, 20 and 25-27 at 8 p.m. A matinee performance will be held Oct. 21 at 2 p.m.

Kaitlin Kozole and Desirae Holmes each netted two goals for the Nittany Lions, as they defeated host Morrisville State College 6-0 on Sunday afternoon in Morrisville. Penn State Abington scored just 3:34 into the match, as Kaitlin Kozole scorched a shot past Mustangs goalkeeper Jennifer Zidzik from the top of the 18 yard box. Alyssa Kaye scored next for Abington off of a Brittany Palmer corner kick at 26:45, giving the Nittany Lions a 2-0 lead going into halftime.

The Morrisville State men’s soccer team held the previously undefeated Penn State Abington Nittany Lions scoreless, convincingly winning the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) matchup 3-0 Sunday afternoon in Morrisville. The Mustangs improve to 9-3-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the conference as the Nittany Lions fall to 8-1 overall and 6-1 in conference play.

In the second of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) cross over tournaments, Morrisville State fell to SUNY Cobleskill and Keuka College by match scores of 3-1 and 3-0, respectively. The losses drop the Mustangs to 3-12 overall, 1-5 in conference action.

Penn State Berks scored a goal in each half to secure a 2-0 victory over host Morrisville State in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) women’s soccer action Saturday afternoon in Morrisville. After playing a scoreless first 30 minutes, Meaghan Daly put the Nittany Lions on the board at 30:33. Emma Babp scored the second Berks goal at 75:20, locking up the 2-0 victory for the 9-2 Nittany Lions. Chelsea Ray was credited with both assists.

The Morrisville State men’s soccer team defeated the visiting Penn State Berks Nittany Lions 3-0 Saturday afternoon in their first annual IACKids game. On top of earning the win, the Mustangs also raised money and awareness for the Italian American Coalition for Kids (IACKids) not-for-profit organization.

Visiting SUNY Cortland field hockey team cruised to a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) victory Saturday morning, topping host Morrisville State College 7-0 in Morrisville. Morrisville State drops to 2-12 overall, 0-5 in conference play, while Cortland improves to 6-4 overall, 3-1 in SUNYAC action. Erin Smith and Sara Woodward each notched two goals apiece to lead Cortland in the win, as three additional teammates tallied scores.

Longtime supporter at Morrisville State College, Dr. Sheila Johnson, was recently awarded the Diversity and Inclusion (DANDI) award in the entrepreneur category, for her involvement at the college.

Visiting Nazareth College field hockey used a five goal first half to top host Morrisville State College by a 7-3 final Friday afternoon in Morrisville. Morrisville State falls to 2-11 overall, while the Golden Flyers improve to 2-9. Jamie Anderson (Harpursville, N.Y.) led the Mustangs with a goal and two assists, while teammates Rebecca Meyer (Morrisville, N.Y.) and Rebecca Quackenbush (Barker, N.Y.) each added one tally apiece.

The Morrisville State College athletics department has named Amanda Hunt (Tunkhannock, Pa.) and Nate Ryan (Staten Island, N.Y.) it’s Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 30.

Steve Law intentionally had his pole barn built facing south on his picturesque, 13-acre property with future plans to install solar panels that would offset some of his energy costs. The hefty price tag on a new solar system kept his plans at bay until recently when he heard about Solarize Madison, a program that's helping home owners, businesses and others install solar energy panels at a discounted rate with fewer hurdles.

Visiting Oswego State dropped the first match and rallied to win the next three, claiming the 3-1 match win over Morrisville State College Wednesday night in Morrisville. Morrisville State drops to 3-10 overall, while Oswego pulls even at 9-9. The Mustangs topped the Lakers 25-22 in the first match before falling 13-25, 20-25 and 19-25 in the next three in the loss.

Morrisville State College will host a presentation by bestselling mob author, Dennis Griffin, on Oct. 11 at 9:30 a.m. in the Little Theatre of the James W. Stewart Center for Student Activities (STUAC). The event, which is sponsored by the Criminal Justice Department and the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) faculty/staff and students, is free and open to the public.

Despite giving up the first goal to Alfred University, the Morrisville State College men’s soccer team came back with three unanswered goals, to beat the Saxons 3-1 in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon. After playing a scoreless first 30 minutes, Alfred University struck first when freshman Nicholas Carey scored off a pass from senior forward Eric Rockwood, giving the Saxons a 1-0 lead going into halftime.

The women's volleyball team won its second match in a row as the Hawks defeated SUNY Morrisville 3-1 (25-15, 25-17, 26-28, 25-18) on Tuesday evening at Lambros Arena on Dig Pink Night. With the win, Hartwick's record is now 5-11 while the Mustangs fall to 3-9.

Visiting Union College field hockey tallied five first half scores, en route to a 6-2 non-conference victory over host Morrisville State College Tuesday afternoon on Drake Field in Morrisville. The win lifts the Dutchmen to 3-6 overall, while Morrisville State drops to 2-10.
