Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act
The Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act, or CARES Act, is a federal economic stimulus bill which provides financial assistance to American workers, families, small businesses and other industries in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Through the CARES Act and via the U.S. Department of Education, SUNY Morrisville has received funding to provide emergency financial aid grants to eligible students.
SUNY Morrisville has signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that we have used, or intend to use, no less than 50 percent of the $3.5 million in funding received under Section 18004(a)(1) of the CARES Act to provide Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students. SUNY Morrisville has determined an estimated total of 2681 students at the institution may be eligible to participate in the program.
Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriation Act (CRRSAA) Fund
In addition to the CARES funding, SUNY Morrisville was notified we were to receive $1,763,621.00 in supplemental funding through CRRSAA. All eligible students received notification of award along with the ability to ‘opt-in’ to have their award paid toward an outstanding balance or decline the offer.
- Each student must have been PELL eligible (EFC of 0-5711)
- Supplemental awards will be reviewed for those non-PELL eligible students (greater than 5711) until funds are depleted
- Be a matriculated student
- Have a completed 2020-2021 FAFSA
As of August 11, 2021, SUNY Morrisville has fully disbursed $1,763,621.00 to students. The total number of students to receive CRRSAA funds is 1210.
