Academic Rebuild Program

The Academic Rebuild Program (ARP) provides personalized, collaborative support aimed at assisting SUNY Morrisville students on Academic Probation return to Good Academic Standing. Success Coaches will work hand-in-hand with students to build a solid foundation for academic achievement while empowering them to overcome challenges and realize their full potential.

Academic Standing

Students must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least a 2.0 to remain in Good Academic Standing. Students whose academic performance fails to meet these conditions and fall into the Academic Probation standing (as reflected in the chart below) will be required to participate in the Academic Rebuild Program as a condition of their continued enrollment.

Academic Rebuild Success Coach Assignment Structure

Students enrolled as part of a cohort in Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), Morrisville Access Program (MAP), Advancing Success in Associate Pathways (ASAP)/ Advancing Completion Through Engagement (ACE), or Collegiate Science & Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) will work directly with their program advisor/success coach; students that are not part of a designated support program will be assigned to their faculty/primary advisor.

Academic Success Plan

All students in the Academic Rebuild Program are required to develop an individualized Academic Success Plan with their Success Coach PRIOR to the semester start. The Academic Success Plan will be unique to each student and their specific needs and goals.

Academic Rebuild Program Requirements

  • Attend Semester Kickoff Event
  • Meet with assigned success coach a minimum of two times
  • Improve cumulative GPA to align with the college’s academic standing policy

Notification regarding participation in the academic rebuild program is sent via United States Postal Service (USPS) mail, Morrisville Email and Text message two business days after final grades are posted. Students must adhere to the deadlines provided within their letter or will be academically dismissed.

Readmission

Students completing 6-credits at another institution with a minimum “C” or better per course are exempt from the Academic Rebuild Program for their initial semester upon return. Subsequent semesters may require participation in the Academic Rebuild Program if their Morrisville GPA places them on Academic Probation.

Students who have been separated from the College for more than three years, may request readmission without the required 6-credits pending participation in and completion of all mandatory ARP steps a minimum of one-week prior to the start of the semester. Request consideration based on degree program requirements.

Academic Rebuild Dismissals

Students that do not adhere to the deadlines provided in their academic notifications will be academically dismissed. Students wishing to appeal their ARP dismissal due to extreme extenuating circumstances may submit a written appeal (with supporting documentation) to their Academic School Office for College Committee review no later than 10-days prior to the start of the semester. If the appeal is granted the student will follow the ARP procedures and program expectations for semester admission.
