Health & Human Development

Check us out, head to toe.

The human body and mind are amazing. If you’re fascinated by the complexity and possibility of each human being, we have the right program for you.

For the physical side, we have degree programs in nursing, massage therapy and exercise science (think about sports and fitness). For the mental and developmental side, we offer a variety of programs in applied psychology and human services (think about helping specialized populations in need). We also offer health-related studies and a healthcare office coordinator program if you know you want to play an integral role in a health care environment.

Psychology is the scientific study of the human mind and behavior. Through the SUNY Morrisville Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in applied psychology, you will learn how current psychological theories apply to practical concerns in the human services field, interpersonal relationships, societal challenges and general problem solving. The program provides you with immediately applicable skills that will be useful across a broad range of careers and life situations.

The SUNY Morrisville Bachelor of Professional Studies (B.P.S.) degree in human services leadership will provide the skills and knowledge to prepare students for careers in organizational leadership or graduate studies in business or public administration, social work or nonprofit management. The degree can also give students the tools to design their own social entrepreneurial enterprises or charitable organizations.

The nursing courses in this program are taught by doctoral-prepared faculty with several years’ experience in nursing and nursing education. Our courses are offered in a full semester format to allow for a more relaxed curricular pace. Graduates from the SUNY Morrisville Nursing A.A.S. degree program will not need to reapply to continue to the Nursing B.S. degree program.

Alumna, Nursing
Morrisville has been known to prepare strong nurses. Faculty teach you how to think critically by combining your education with reasoning so that you can come up with a solution that most benefits your patient. This amazing college has been life-changing for me.

Facilities

The best textbook is the real world.

At SUNY Morrisville, you will have access to a variety of hands-on laboratories designed to enhance your classroom experience.

It doesn’t get more hands-on than our on-campus Massage Therapy Clinic, which contains all of the equipment and supplies necessary to offer you a full range of experience, including massage tables, chairs, supportive bolsters and body cushions, oriental floor mats and a variety of lotions and creams to aid in tissue manipulations and provide for client comfort and safety. The clinic is available for students, faculty, staff and other members of the campus and local communities.

Our General Biology, Human Biology and Anatomy & Physiology labs are each equipped with microscopes, overhead projectors, a portable projection system with a document camera, and three video microscope systems. The Anatomy & Physiology lab has five computers to run physiology software and apparatus to produce and analyze EKGs, EMGs and pulmonary functions.

An Exercise Science Laboratory provides you a full range of the latest fitness and analysis equipment in a live exercise environment. Our testing equipment includes a Quinton electrocardiogram machine and a Metabolic Medgraphic cart which assesses gas exchange, carbon dioxide output and oxygen input, in addition to a variety of fitness equipment.

Clubs

The SUNY Morrisville Baccalaureate Student Nursing Association (BSNA) and Student Nurses Association (SNA) participate in many social and extracurricular activities related to the nursing profession and are a great way to socialize with fellow students and network with professionals. Members also are highly involved in community activities, such as an annual October Breast Cancer Walk, an Alzheimer’s Walk and food drives.

The Human Services Organization is a student club that provides you opportunities outside of the classroom to volunteer in the community. These valuable additional learning experiences include food drives, fundraising, and events for children and families.
