Morrisville State drops conference matches to Cobleskill, Keuka

In the second of North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) cross over tournaments, Morrisville State fell to SUNY Cobleskill and Keuka College by match scores of 3-1 and 3-0, respectively.

The losses drop the Mustangs to 3-12 overall, 1-5 in conference action.

In the first of the day, Cobleskill edged Morrisville State 25-22 in the first match and held a two set lead with a 25-14 victory in the second, before the Mustangs battled back for a 25-21 third set win, forcing a fourth. Cobleskill claimed the final set 25-12 for the 3-1 victory.

Tiffany Jones-Maxwell (Hamilton, N.Y.) led Morrisville State with 10 kills, while Kylie Murphy (Nichols, N.Y.) added nine, also contributing two service aces and 13 defensive digs.

Lindsay Easterly (Cazenovia, N.Y.) registered 19 assists, also serving up two aces, two assisted blocks, and seven digs.

Jackie Saddlemire (Knox, N.Y.) led the defensive efforts with 15 digs, with DeeAnna Rammelt (Westfield, N.Y.) adding 11.

Keuka dominated the second match, claiming the 3-0 win with set scores of 25-12, 25-11 and 25-13.

Jones-Maxwell and Dayna Scurry (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the attack game, each posting four kills in the match, while Easterly had nine assists.

Murphy led the defensive efforts with 13 digs with Saddlemire adding seven.

Morrisville State returns to the court tomorrow, facing Wells College and SUNYIT in the second round of the conference cross over weekend.
