Morrisville State men's soccer comes from behind to beat Alfred University 3-1

Despite giving up the first goal to Alfred University, the Morrisville State College men’s soccer team came back with three unanswered goals, to beat the Saxons 3-1 in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon.

After playing a scoreless first 30 minutes, Alfred University struck first when freshman Nicholas Carey scored off a pass from senior forward Eric Rockwood, giving the Saxons a 1-0 lead going into halftime.

The Mustangs came out firing on all cylinders in the second half, scoring two goals in the first four minutes of the half. Striking first for Morrisville State was senior forward Sanley Pierre-Louis (Gaithersburg, M.D.) on an unassisted goal at 47:11. Just over a minute later Danny Peckham (Webster, N.Y.) found the back of the net on another unassisted effort at 48:34.

Gilroy Alvarez (Guatemala) scored the final goal of the game for the Mustangs at 67:46, securing the 3-1 win for Morrisville State.

Samuel Guy recorded the loss for Alfred with five saves, while Rob Larkin (Clinton, N.Y.) picked up the win for Morrisville, also tallying five saves.

With the win, the Mustangs improve to 7-3-1 overall and remain at 2-1-1 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play.

Morrisville State is back in action against conference opponent Penn State Berks on Saturday, October 6th at 3:00 pm in Morrisville, N.Y.
