Cortland cruises to 7-0 SUNYAC win over Morrisville State

Visiting SUNY Cortland field hockey team cruised to a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) victory Saturday morning, topping host Morrisville State College 7-0 in Morrisville.

Morrisville State drops to 2-12 overall, 0-5 in conference play, while Cortland improves to 6-4 overall, 3-1 in SUNYAC action.

Erin Smith and Sara Woodward each notched two goals apiece to lead Cortland in the win, as three additional teammates tallied scores.

Amanda Perricone recorded the shutout win in net, making one stop before being relieved by Emily von Schondorf in the second half, who also turned away one.

Ellen DePasquale (Vernon, N.Y.) turned away 13 in the loss for the Mustangs in the first half of play, recording the loss. Nicole Gregg (Lisle, N.Y.) added 12 saves in the second half.

Cortland held the 58-12 advantage in shots and 17-6 advantage in penalty corners in the win.

Morrisville State returns to the field Friday, traveling to the University of Rochester.
