The Morrisville State men’s soccer team held the previously undefeated Penn State Abington Nittany Lions scoreless, convincingly winning the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) matchup 3-0 Sunday afternoon in Morrisville.
The Mustangs improve to 9-3-1 overall and 4-1-1 in the conference as the Nittany Lions fall to 8-1 overall and 6-1 in conference play.
Junior Tom Huber (West Islip, N.Y.) put Morrisville State on the board first just 6:21 into the game with an unassisted goal.
Sanley Pierre-Louis (Gaithersburg, M.D.) scored the next two goals for the Mustangs, the first from a Gilroy Alvarez (Guatemala) assist. Pierre-Louis’s second goal was unassisted, as he beat two defenders before making a nifty move around Penn State Abington’s goalkeeper, James Carlin and passing the ball into the back of the net.
The Nittany Lions put up a fight, as they took 13 shots to Morrisville State’s 16, but freshman goalkeeper Rob Larkin (Clinton, N.Y.) came up huge for the Mustangs on several occasions. Larkin recorded the win with eight saves, earning his fourth shutout this season.
James Carlin recorded the loss for Penn State Abington with three saves.
Morrisville State is back in action against non-conference opponent SUNY Canton on Wednesday, October 10th at 7:00 pm in Morrisville, N.Y.
