The Morrisville State College athletics department has named freshman Rob Larkin (Clinton, N.Y.) and senior Austin Townsley (Horseheads, N.Y.) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 21.

The Morrisville State College men’s soccer team wrapped up their 2012 regular season with a conference victory over visiting Keuka College Tuesday evening, 4-1. With the win, the Mustangs improved to 13-4-1 overall and 8-1-1 in the conference.

The Morrisville State College women’s soccer team concluded their 2012 season today with a 6-0 loss to Keuka College. The Storm was led by Jessica Barndrowski who scored three goals and an assist on the day, while Nicole Sharick added two goals and an assist of her own. The Mustangs had their opportunities, taking 11 shots, but could not find the back of the net.  

The Morrisville State College men’s soccer team came away with a 1-0 victory against visiting conference rival Wells College, Saturday evening in Morrisville, N.Y., in a game that was largely battled in the midfield.

The Morrisville State Mustangs lost a heartbreaker Saturday afternoon to the Wells College Express, 3-2 in double overtime, as they played their second annual Goals for a Cure game.

Senior Austin Townsley (Horseheads, N.Y.) won the men’s race outright Saturday afternoon at the Wells College Invitational in Aurora, N.Y., leading the men’s team to a first place finish.

Junior quarterback Ryan Gresik threw for 369 yards and three touchdowns to lead visiting William Paterson University to a 31-6 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) victory Saturday afternoon over host Morrisville State College in Morrisville. The Pioneers improve to 3-4 overall, 1-4 in conference play, while the Mustangs drop to 1-6 overall, 1-4 in NJAC action.

Interim head coach, Kevin Krogol, recently announced Spencer Noyes as assistant coach to the ice hockey coaching staff for the 2012-13 season. He will be responsible for coaching the forwards and penalty kill situation, along with all facets of the day-to-day operations of the hockey program.

Morrisville State College athletic director, Greg Carroll, has named Kevin Krogol the interim head coach of the men’s ice hockey program for the 2012-2013 season.

Senior forward Ashley Engle (Manheim, PA) posted a hat trick, netting three scores to lead the visiting Houghton College Highlanders to a 5-1 non-conference victory over Morrisville State Thursday afternoon in Morrisville. The Mustangs drop to 2-14 on the season, while Houghton improves to 7-5.

The Morrisville State College athletics department has named sophomore Krista Baxter (Downsville, N.Y.) and junior Jeremy Stewart (Moravia, N.Y.) it’s Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 14.

Visiting Utica College volleyball opened match action on a fast pace Wednesday night, topping host Morrisville State College 3-1 in non-conference action in Morrisville with set scores of 25-12, 25-18, 21-25, and 25-20. Morrisville State dropped to 5-14 overall while the Pioneers improved to 7-18.

The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) office has announced its weekly award winners, naming Morrisville State College’s Sanley Pierre-Louis (Gaithersburg, Md.) the Men’s Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week for the second consecutive week.

The Morrisville State College athletic department invites all area children to take part in the NCAA Football’s 18th annual “Take a Kid to the Game” (TAKG) program as the Mustangs take on William Paterson University, Saturday, October 20 at 12 p.m. in the college’s stadium. Kids, ages 12 and younger, will receive free admission with the purchase of an adult ticket.

The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) has announced the players of the week for the week ending October 13, naming Morrisville State College freshman quarterback Jory Tanner (Adams, N.Y.) the Offensive Rookie of the Week.

The Morrisville State men’s soccer team defeated host Penn State Harrisburg 3-1 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play on Sunday afternoon. The Mustangs improve to 11-4-1 overall and 6-1-1 in the conference, as the Nittany Lions fall to 7-7-1 overall and 5-2-1 in conference play.

The Morrisville State College women’s soccer team scored first on Sunday, as they faced conference opponent Penn State Harrisburg, but the Nittany Lions proved to be too much as they defeated the Mustangs 8-1 in Middletown, P.A.

Sophomore Amanda Hunt (Tunkhannock, P.A.) and senior Austin Townsley (Horseheads, N.Y.) were top finishers for the Morrisville State College women’s and men’s cross country teams at the CCOC Championships, Saturday held at Hobart College.

Morrisville State fought back from a two goal deficit to tie the game at three, but couldn’t hold on as they lost the 4-3 decision to host Gallaudet in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play Saturday afternoon in Washington, D.C.

Freshman running back Emmanuel Johnson (Staten Island, N.Y.) pounded the ball over the goal line with 36 seconds remaining in the contest to lift visiting Morrisville State College football in a 34-33 come-from-behind thriller over host Western Connecticut State University Saturday afternoon in Danbury.

Katie Flaschner (East Amherst, NY/The Nichols School) scored one goal and set up three others as the University of Rochester defeated Morrisville State, 8-1, in field hockey at Edwin Fauver Stadium.

Host Morrisville State College women’s volleyball appeared for the first time on the Mustangs newly renovated court and didn’t hesitate as they claimed a convincing 3-0 victory over visiting Paul Smith College Friday evening in Morrisville. The Mustangs improve to 5-13 overall with the win, while the Bobcats drop to 3-15.

Hilary Corna, national speaker and author of One White Face, will give a presentation on Oct. 22 at the Morrisville State College campus.  The presentation, “Create Your Own Opportunity and Embrace Your Potential: I Dare You” will be held at 1 p.m. in the Little Theatre of the John W. Stewart Center for Student Activities (STUAC). 

The Morrisville State College athletics department has named freshman Kylie Murphy (Nichols, N.Y.) and sophomore Gilroy Alvarez (Guatemala) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 7. Murphy, freshman outside hitter for the women’s volleyball team, completed the week with 30 kills, 10 service aces and 57 defensive digs to lead the Mustangs.
