Morrisville State men's soccer defeats Penn State Harrisburg 3-1

The Morrisville State men’s soccer team defeated host Penn State Harrisburg 3-1 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play on Sunday afternoon.

The Mustangs improve to 11-4-1 overall and 6-1-1 in the conference, as the Nittany Lions fall to 7-7-1 overall and 5-2-1 in conference play.

Sophomore midfielder Joey Plummer (Gates, N.Y.) struck first for the Mustangs, as he headed in a free kick from Sean Shields (Rotterdam, N.Y) at 12:38.

Senior forward Sanley Pierre-Louis (Gaithersburg, Md.) scored next for Morrisville State when he headed a cross from Karim Ouedraogo (Burkina Faso) past Nittany Lions’ keeper Charles Hyson, giving the Mustangs a 2-0 lead going into halftime.

Penn State Harrisburg got on the board quickly in the second half when Tommy Miller finished an unassisted effort at 51:29, but this was the only time the Nittany Lions would find the back of the net, despite outshooting the Mustangs 16 to 9.

Jeffrey Hado (Tema, Ghana) scored the third and final goal for Morrisville State from a Gilroy Alvarez (Guatemala) assist at 83:43.

Rob Larkin (Clinton, N.Y.) earned the win for the Mustangs with 11 saves, while Hyson recorded the loss for Penn State Harrisburg with two saves.

Morrisville State returns home to face off against conference opponent Wells College on Saturday, October 20th at 7:00 PM on Drake Field in Morrisville, N.Y.
