Four Mustangs finish in the top ten leading Morrisville State men's cross country to 1st place finish at Wells College Invitational

Senior Austin Townsley (Horseheads, N.Y.) won the men’s race outright Saturday afternoon at the Wells College Invitational in Aurora, N.Y., leading the men’s team to a first place finish.

Townsley finished with a time of 23:00.67 in the 6K run with Ben Sargrad (Manlius, N.Y.), Anthony Ostuni (Liverpool, N.Y.), Austin Hirsch (Morrisville, N.Y.) and Shawn Okula (Medford, N.Y.) all finishing within a minute behind. Sargrad finished 4th place overall with a time of 23:29.99, while Ostuni, Hirsch and Okula crossed the line one after the other 7th, 8th and 9th, respectively, all finishing under the 24:00 minute mark helping to secure the win for the Mustangs..

Matthew Kennedy (Cooperstown, N.Y.) and Basil McKenzie (Brooklyn, N.Y.) rounded out team scoring with 27th and 29th place finishes, respectively.

Only three runners competed on the women’s side, not allowing them to qualify for team results. Amanda Hunt (Tunkhannock, P.A.), however, continues to run strong, as she finished the 5K in 21:55.83 in 8th place. Celine Eppolito (North Collins, N.Y.) crossed the line next for the Mustangs in 14th place with a time of 23:22.44. Victoria Lanquah (Bronx, N.Y.) rounded out the women’s efforts on the day with a 27th place finish.

Morrisville State competes next at the NEAC Championships held at Penn State Abington on October 27th at 11:00 AM.
