Morrisville State men's soccer grinds out 1-0 win over Wells College

The Morrisville State College men’s soccer team came away with a 1-0 victory against visiting conference rival Wells College, Saturday evening in Morrisville, N.Y., in a game that was largely battled in the midfield.

Sanley Pierre-Louis (Gaithersburg, Md.) and Jacob Chase (Cooperstown, N.Y.) teamed up for the lone goal of the contest at 28:35, as Pierre-Louis gathered a pass through the defense from Chase and buried the ball in the corner of the net.

With the goal, Pierre-Louis now holds the top spot outright for goals in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) with 11.

Wells College put a flurry of shots together in the final seconds of the game, but Morrisville State goalkeeper Rob Larkin (Clinton, N.Y.) and the rest of the Mustang defense stepped up and held on to secure the win.

With the win, the Mustangs improved to 12-4-1 overall and 7-1-1 in the conference.

C.J. Bayly suffered the loss for the Express, tallying five saves, while Larkin came away with the win, recording his sixth shutout of his freshman campaign with five saves.

The Mustangs are back in action on Tuesday, October 23rd as they host conference foe Keuka College  at 6:00 PM on Drake Field in Morrisville, N.Y.
