The Morrisville State College women’s soccer team scored first on Sunday, as they faced conference opponent Penn State Harrisburg, but the Nittany Lions proved to be too much as they defeated the Mustangs 8-1 in Middletown, P.A.

Morrisville State’s sophomore midfielder Krista Baxter (Downsville, N.Y.) scored the first goal of the game at 15:53 when she jumped on a loose ball in front of the goal and buried it in the back of the net, giving the Mustangs their only lead of the day.

Penn State Harrisburg, however, proved to be too much for the Mustangs, as seven different Nittany Lions’ players scored, earning them the 8-1 victory.

Jennifer Zidzik (Lambertville, N.J.) recorded the loss for the Mustangs tallying nine saves, while Janelle Hammond earned the win for Penn State Harrisburg recording one save.

The Mustangs return to action on Saturday, October 20th as they return home to faceoff against conference rival Wells College at 5:00 PM on Drake Field in Morrisville, N.Y.
