Morrisville State College students will be among thousands of participants from all over the world taking part in the 2013 International Game Developers Association (IGDA) Global Game Jam (GGJ) Jan. 25-27 and the college will once again serve as a host site for the growing event.

Morrisville State College women’s basketball led for a majority of the contest Sunday afternoon, but could not hold on as host Penn State Abington put together a 19-6 second half run to top the visitors by a 51-41 final in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action in Abington.
The Mustangs drop to 0-10 overall, 0-3 in conference play, while the Nittany Lions pull even at 5-5, and remain untouched in NEAC action at 3-0.

The Morrisville State College women’s basketball team resumed schedule play with a 69-58 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) loss to host College of St. Elizabeth in Morristown, New Jersey Saturday afternoon.
The Mustangs continue to look for their first win, dropping to 0-9 overall, 0-2 in conference play, while the Screaming Eagles improve to 4-5, 2-1 in the NEAC.

The Morrisville State College men’s ice hockey team has teamed up with Autism Speaks and the Kelberman Center, Inc., Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 in their State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) contest against SUNY Potsdam, in an effort to bring an increased awareness to both organizations while raising funds for the programs that advocate for the needs of individuals with autism and their families.

Jakob Rasmussen (Vellentuna, Swe.) suffered the loss in net for the Mustangs, turning away 31 as Morrisville held the 41-35 edge in shots on goal.

Junior forward Mike Dolman (Hawthorne, N.J.) scored a goal and assisted on another to lead the Mustangs to a 2-2 draw with Neumann University Friday night in Morrisville.
The tie is the second for the Mustangs in 2012, as they are now 1-11-2 overall and 1-7 in conference play.
Morrisville also got numbers from Jamie Nelson (Stratford, Ont.), who scored the other Mustang goal, while Ryan Marcuz (Richmond Hill, Ont.) added the other assist.

The Morrisville State College western equestrian riding team posted high point team and reserve high point team honors on Sunday, as they hosted the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) invitational at the riding arena on Swamp Road in Morrisville.
Morrisville State collected 31 points in the first show to earn high point team honors, topping reserve show champion Cobleskill who tallied 15 team points.

Members of the Morrisville State College field hockey and women’s lacrosse teams braved the “freezing” elements, and joined together to support the Special Olympics New York, participating in the annual Oneida Shores Polar Plunge on Sunday.
Special Olympics is the largest amateur sports organization in the world. With more than 51,000 athletes, they are the largest chapter in North America and the sixth largest chapter in the world.

The Morrisville State College hunt seat equestrian team posted a team total 30 points to place third overall in a field of 10 competitors Saturday at the Skidmore College Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Invitational held in Saratoga Springs.
Skidmore claimed top show honors topping the field with 47 points, while Hartwick claimed reserve honors with 33 team points.

The Renewable Energy Training Center (RETC) at Morrisville State College is offering a one-day workshop on anaerobic digestion (AD), Dec. 14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the RETC bioenergy lab in Galbreath Hall, room 148.
This beginner-level course covers the status of AD in New York state, basic AD system components, AD biological and chemical processes, preventative and corrective maintenance of the engine-generator set and system, and future opportunities in the field.
