Morrisville State College students will be among thousands of participants from all over the world taking part in the 2013 International Game Developers Association (IGDA) Global Game Jam (GGJ) Jan. 25-27 and the college will once again serve as a host site for the growing event.

Before he even graduates from Morrisville State College, Mike Filosi will most likely have already been recruited by an employer for his skills. The automotive technology bachelor degree student is among those in demand to fill a wave of positions in an auto industry craving seasoned and highly skilled technicians.

Morrisville State College women’s basketball led for a majority of the contest Sunday afternoon, but could not hold on as host Penn State Abington put together a 19-6 second half run to top the visitors by a 51-41 final in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action in Abington. The Mustangs drop to 0-10 overall, 0-3 in conference play, while the Nittany Lions pull even at 5-5, and remain untouched in NEAC action at 3-0.

The Morrisville State College women’s basketball team resumed schedule play with a 69-58 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) loss to host College of St. Elizabeth in Morristown, New Jersey Saturday afternoon. The Mustangs continue to look for their first win, dropping to 0-9 overall, 0-2 in conference play, while the Screaming Eagles improve to 4-5, 2-1 in the NEAC.

Visiting Morrisville State College men’s basketball dominated host Penn State Abington Sunday afternoon, rolling to a 108-79 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory over the Nittany Lions in Abington. The Mustangs improve to 6-4 overall, and pull even in conference play at 1-1, while Abington drops to 3-10, 1-1 in NEAC action.

The Morrisville State College men’s ice hockey team has teamed up with Autism Speaks and the Kelberman Center, Inc., Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 in their State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) contest against SUNY Potsdam, in an effort to bring an increased awareness to both organizations while raising funds for the programs that advocate for the needs of individuals with autism and their families.

The Morrisville State College men’s basketball team heads into the holiday break on a high posting an 82-66 non-conference victory over visiting Hamilton College Saturday afternoon in Morrisville. The win lifts the Mustangs to 5-4 overall, while the Continentals are even at 5-5.

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) has released its 2012 Division III All-East Men’s Soccer All-Star teams, naming Morrisville State College’s senior forward Sanley Pierre-Louis (Gaithersburg, Md.) to its second team.

Neumann University had eight different players tally points, as they defeated Morrisville State 4-1 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon in Morrisville. With the loss, the Mustangs drop to 1-12-2 overall and 1-7 in conference play. Jakob Rasmussen (Vellentuna, Swe.) suffered the loss in net for the Mustangs, turning away 31 as Morrisville held the 41-35 edge in shots on goal.

Junior forward Mike Dolman (Hawthorne, N.J.) scored a goal and assisted on another to lead the Mustangs to a 2-2 draw with Neumann University Friday night in Morrisville. The tie is the second for the Mustangs in 2012, as they are now 1-11-2 overall and 1-7 in conference play. Morrisville also got numbers from Jamie Nelson (Stratford, Ont.), who scored the other Mustang goal, while Ryan Marcuz (Richmond Hill, Ont.) added the other assist.

The Morrisville State College men’s basketball team went wire-to-wire for the second straight year with the Saxons, and came away victorious, defeating visiting Alfred University 77-76 in an overtime non-conference thriller Saturday  afternoon on its home court. The win pulls the Mustangs even at 4-4 overall, while Alfred dropped to 2-6.

The Keuka College men’s basketball shocked Morrisville State Wednesday afternoon, claiming a 59-50 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory behind a balanced offensive attack. Morrisville State drops to 3-4 overall, 0-1 in conference play, while the Storm pick up their first win of the season to improve to 1-5, 1-0 in the NEAC.

The Morrisville State College women’s basketball team dropped a 65-44 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) decision Wednesday night to host Keuka College, despite a tremendous defensive effort. Morrisville State drops to 0-7 overall, while Keuka improves to 4-1.

The Morrisville State College western equestrian riding team posted high point team and reserve high point team honors on Sunday, as they hosted the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) invitational at the riding arena on Swamp Road in Morrisville. Morrisville State collected 31 points in the first show to earn high point team honors, topping reserve show champion Cobleskill who tallied 15 team points.

Members of the Morrisville State College field hockey and women’s lacrosse teams braved the “freezing” elements, and joined together to support the Special Olympics New York, participating in the annual Oneida Shores Polar Plunge on Sunday. Special Olympics is the largest amateur sports organization in the world.  With more than 51,000 athletes, they are the largest chapter in North America and the sixth largest chapter in the world. 

The Morrisville State College athletics department has named freshman western team rider, Jessica Flint (Brushton, N.Y.), and junior hockey forward Ryan Marcuz (Richmond Hill, Ontario) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending December 2.

The North Eastern Athletic Conference has named its student-athletes of the week, selecting Morrisville State College’s Jailaan Kinsey (Syracuse, N.Y. / Jamesville-DeWitt) the men’s basketball player of the week for the week ending December 2.

The 2012 Morrisville State College Dairy Judging Team completed another successful year, placing in several competitions.

The Morrisville State College hunt seat equestrian team posted a team total 30 points to place third overall in a field of 10 competitors Saturday at the Skidmore College Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Invitational held in Saratoga Springs. Skidmore claimed top show honors topping the field with 47 points, while Hartwick claimed reserve honors with 33 team points.

The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has announced its player of the week awards, naming Morrisville State College freshman defenseman, Anthony Scornaienchi (Stoney Creek, Ontario) the Ice Hockey Rookie of the Week for the week ending December 2.

Devon Rice registered a goal and assisted on another to lead the visiting SUNY Geneseo Knights to a 4-1 victory over the host Morrisville State Mustangs in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) hockey action Saturday night in Morrisville. With the win, Geneseo improves to 6-4-1 overall and 5-1-1 in conference play, while the Mustangs drop to 1-11-1 overall and 1-7 in SUNYAC action.

Freshman defender Anthony Scornaienchi (Stoney Creek, Ont.) registered two goals and assisted one to lead host Morrisville State College to a 5-4 come from behind victory over the visiting SUNY Brockport Golden Eagles in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) hockey action Friday night in Morrisville.

Junior guard Jailaan Kinsey (Syracuse, N.Y.) netted a team high 13 points as host Morrisville State College men’s basketball topped visiting SUNY ESF 93-34 in non-conference action in Morrisville. The win boosts the Mustangs to 3-2 overall, while ESF, a first year program, falls to 0-5.

The Renewable Energy Training Center (RETC) at Morrisville State College is offering a one-day workshop on anaerobic digestion (AD), Dec. 14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the RETC bioenergy lab in Galbreath Hall, room 148. This beginner-level course covers the status of AD in New York state, basic AD system components, AD biological and chemical processes, preventative and corrective maintenance of the engine-generator set and system, and future opportunities in the field.
