Abington women second half comeback leads to 51-41 victory over Morrisville State

Morrisville State College women’s basketball led for a majority of the contest Sunday afternoon, but could not hold on as host Penn State Abington put together a 19-6 second half run to top the visitors by a 51-41 final in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action in Abington.

The Mustangs drop to 0-10 overall, 0-3 in conference play, while the Nittany Lions pull even at 5-5, and remain untouched in NEAC action at 3-0.

Queen Holquin (Bronx, N.Y.) led Morrisville State’s efforts with 14 points, registering four from beyond the arc, while adding five rebounds to her tallies on the day. Jennel Paul (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 10, collecting seven on the glass. Joslyn Paige (East Patchogue, N.Y.) led the Mustangs defensive game, snagging a game high 11 rebounds, while posting two steals and five blocks.

Jessica Schmidt led Abington with 14 points, adding seven rebounds and four assists while teammate Trish Watson tallied 13 points and eight boards for the Lions.

Morrisville State was ahead 26-17 at the break.

Morrisville State returns to the court Wednesday, hosting SUNY IT at 2 p.m. in the John W. Stewart Student Activities Center gymnasium.
