Members of the Morrisville State College field hockey and women’s lacrosse teams braved the “freezing” elements, and joined together to support the Special Olympics New York, participating in the annual Oneida Shores Polar Plunge on Sunday.
Special Olympics is the largest amateur sports organization in the world. With more than 51,000 athletes, they are the largest chapter in North America and the sixth largest chapter in the world.
Special Olympics New York athletes train and compete year-round in 22 sports, participate in the Young Athletes Program and the Motor Activities Training Program – at no cost to the athlete, their families or their caregivers.
Together student-athletes and coaches from the two programs at Morrisville State braved the icy waters of Oneida Lake, raising $1100 for the organization.
