The Morrisville State College athletics department has named Queen Holquin (Bronx, N.Y.) and Kucjok Ater (Syracuse, N.Y.) it’s Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending January 6.
Holquin, guard for the women’s basketball team, tallied 29 points across three games over the break, including a career best 17 against the College of St. Elizabeth. In the contest she was 5-for-8 from beyond the arc, also adding two assists and four steals to her tallies. Collectively on the week, she added 13 rebounds and five assists, while nailing 10-of-19 from long range for the Mustangs.
The freshman is a graduate of Harry S. Truman High, and is majoring in individual studies at Morrisville State.
Ater paced the Morrisville State men’s basketball team to two victories over the holiday break, posting a total 35 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists. In the 82-66 victory over Hamilton, he tallied a team high 22 points and added six rebounds, before adding 13 points and eight boards in the 108-79 onslaught of Penn State Abington on Sunday in just 19 minutes. Together on the week, Ater also posted four steals.
The junior is a graduate of Bishop Grimes High and is majoring in computer information systems at Morrisville State. He is the son of Persikila Depmac of Syracuse.
