The Keuka College men’s basketball shocked Morrisville State Wednesday afternoon, claiming a 59-50 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory behind a balanced offensive attack.
Morrisville State drops to 3-4 overall, 0-1 in conference play, while the Storm pick up their first win of the season to improve to 1-5, 1-0 in the NEAC.
Three posted double figures for the Mustangs, including Brandon Hanks (Syracuse, N.Y.) who registered a team high 11. Jailaan Kinsey (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Kucjok Ater (Syracuse, N.Y.) each added 10 in the efforts.
Jared Wagner led Keuka with 13 points as three additional teammates reached double digits, including Trevor Healey who posted a 12 point, 10 rebound performance.
Morrisville State struggled from the floor in the first half and trailed 30-22 at the break, before putting together a second half run to tie the contest at 47 with 3:47 to go.
Teddy Tuggles quickly regained the lead for the Storm, completing a three-point play with 1:41 remaining, and Wagner and Tyler Hixson each converted free throws down the stretch to secure the victory.
Morrisville State hit just 17-of-56 shots from the floor (30.4 %), and struggled from long range (5-for-25), as Keuka converted 40.4 percent of shots taken on the night.
Morrisville State returns to the court Saturday, hosting Alfred University at 3 p.m.
