The Morrisville State College men’s ice hockey team has teamed up with Autism Speaks and the Kelberman Center, Inc., Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013 in their State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) contest against SUNY Potsdam, in an effort to bring an increased awareness to both organizations while raising funds for the programs that advocate for the needs of individuals with autism and their families.
Founded in Utica, New York, the Kelberman Center, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization in Central New York that provides state-of-the-art programs and services for children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and their families, including evaluation and diagnosis, individualized education, social and life skills enhancement, training and research.
Likewise, Autism Speaks has grown into the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization that is dedicated to funding research into the causes, prevention and treatment for those diagnosed with autism.
All gate proceeds from the contest will be donated to the organizations, along with revenue received from a 50/50 raffle, silent auctions, general donations and prize raffles. Also, Morrisville State will be holding an online jersey auction for jerseys worn during the commemorative event.
The online auction will begin Wednesday, Jan. 2 and continue through Friday, Jan. 18 at 5 p.m. on the athletics website at http://athletics.morrisville.edu. Winners will be announced Sunday, Jan. 20.
