The SUNY Cobleskill men’s basketball team dropped a 75-to-61 to visiting Morrisville State College in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action on Wednesday evening at the Iorio Gymnasium. The Fighting Tigers overall record to 3-11 on the year including a 4-1 mark in conference action while the Mustangs to overall 9-4 with a 4-1 record versus league opponents.
The Fighting Tigers struggled throughout the contest to the defending NEAC champions as the Mustangs forced Cobleskill into 20 turnovers on the evening resulting in 22 points. The visitors also won the battle of the backboards by a 43-to-32 margin.
Morrisville State was led in scoring by junior forward Kucjok Ater, Syracuse, N.Y., Bishop Grimes High School, who had 16 points to go with five rebounds while junior forward Rhamel Williams, Bronx, N.Y., John F. Kennedy High School/Herkimer Community College, and junior forward Mickey Davis, Syracuse, N.Y., Jamesville-Dewitt High School, each had 13 points.
The Orange & Black were led by senior guard Tyrone Mitchell, Mount Vernon, N.Y., Mount Vernon High School/Sullivan Community College, who scored a game high 24 points to go with four rebounds and three assists and by junior guard Kareem Bernard, Bronx, N.Y., Saint Raymond’s High School/Sullivan Community College, who tallied 14 points, eight rebounds and three assists on the evening.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Saturday January 19 when the play host to the Nittany Lions of Penn State Harrisburg with tip-off scheduled for 3:00 p.m. while the Mustangs travel to Canton N.Y. on Friday January 18 to face SUNY Canton in non-league action beginning at 8:00 p.m.
