Morrisville State College men’s soccer will be making their first ever appearance in the NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Championship Tournament, and as announced in the selection show held at 1:00 PM Monday, will face Carnegie Mellon University in the first round of the Regional Bracket. Morrisville State (15-4-1) earned the automatic qualifier to the NCAA’s after defeating Penn State Abington on Sunday for the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship Title.
Morrisville State College head men’s basketball coach, Joseph Smith, recently announced the addition of Kyle Martin to the coaching staff for the 2012-2013 season. The Tully, N.Y. native comes to Morrisville State from Hamilton College where he served as the assistant men’s basketball coach in 2011.
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced its 2012 Field Hockey All-Conference Teams, naming Morrisville State College’s Rebecca Meyer (Morrisville, NY) and Jamie Anderson (Harpursville, N.Y.) to its first and second teams. Meyer earns first team honors following a 17 point season on six goals and five assists. She is tied in conference leaders at 10th in points per game (0.94) and is ranked eighth overall in assists recorded on the season.
Sophomore Amanda Hunt (Tunkhannock, P.A.) and freshman Anthony Ostuni (Liverpool, N.Y.) were top finishers for the Morrisville State College women’s and men’s cross country teams at the ECAC Championships on Saturday at Mount Greylock High School.
Second seed Morrisville State College men’s soccer claimed the programs first North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship title Sunday, posting a dramatic 2-1 overtime victory over top seed Penn State Abington in Fort Washington, Pa. The Mustangs earned the automatic bid to the NCAA Championship Tournament, the first in the history of the program. Morrisville State improves to 15-4-1 overall and will await further tournament information following the NCAA selection show which is scheduled for tomorrow  afternoon at 1 at www.ncaasports.com.
The second seeded Morrisville State College men’s soccer team defeated third seeded Cazenovia College, 1-0, in the semi-final round to advance to the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Men’s Soccer Championship Final, Sunday, November 4 in Fort Washington. After playing a scoreless first half, freshman forward Jacob Chase (Cooperstown, N.Y.) scored the lone goal of the contest early in the second half. Cazenovia outshot Morrisville State 18-14, but the Mustang defense stayed strong and did not allow the Wildcats to break through.
The College of New Jersey registered two first half touchdown scores en route to a 14-0 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) decision over host Morrisville State College Saturday afternoon in Morrisville. The Mustangs drop to 1-8 overall, 1-6 in conference play, while the Lions improve to 4-5 overall, 3-4 in NJAC action.

The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its 2012 NEAC Men’s Soccer All-Conference selections, naming five Morrisville State student-athletes to its all-conference teams for the 2012 season.  Morrisville State posted a 13-4-1 regular season record, and finished second in the conference with an 8-1-1 record.
