The Morrisville State College athletics department has named western equestrian rider Rebecca Brunecz (Sugar Grove, Pa.) and men’s basketball forward Kucjok Ater (Syracuse, N.Y.) it’s Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending November 18. Brunecz assisted Morrisville State to reserve and high point team honors in two shows on Sunday, topping all competition twice in the intermediate western horsemanship II class to record the blue ribbons.

The Morrisville State College men’s basketball team dropped their second straight contest Tuesday night, as Clarkson University held on for the 78-75 non-conference win in Morrisville. Morrisville State falls to 1-2 on the season, while the Golden Knights remain unbeaten at 3-0. Four recorded double figures for the Mustangs on the night, including Kucjok Ater (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Jailaan Kinsey (Syracuse, N.Y.) who each posted 17. Rhamel Williams (Bronx, N.Y.) added 11 and Brandon Henry (Harlem, N.Y.) 10 in the Morrisville State efforts.

Visiting SUNY Brockport women’s basketball ignited early in the second half to outlast host Morrisville State College for a 58-45 non-conference victory Tuesday night in Morrisville. The loss drops the Mustangs to 0-3 overall, while Brockport pulls even at 2-2. Three netted double figures for Brockport, including Bree Fortney and Cecilia Sigrist who each tallied 13. Alexandra Marshall added 11 in the win for the Golden Eagles, also grabbing a team best 11 rebounds and dishing out three assists.

The Morrisville State College hunt seat equestrian team compiled 21 team points at the Skidmore College Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Invitational on Saturday, finishing sixth overall in team standings. Three posted wins in their respective classes for the Mustangs, including Lane Simonin (Tivoli, N.Y.) in the novice equitation over fences class.

Morrisville State College hosted two Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) western invitationals on Sunday, with the hosts claiming reserve and high point team honors. In the morning show, Morrisville State was edged by SUNY Cobleskill for high point team, as the Fighting Tigers registered 23 team points to the Mustangs 18. Morrisville State collected four blue ribbons on the morning, including one from Paige Jerrett (Parish, N.Y.) in the advanced western horsemanship class.

The Morrisville State College women’s basketball team dropped a 57-41 decision to Albany College of Pharmacy Saturday afternoon on the second day of the Kevin Fee/Roo Classic basketball tournament held at SUNY Canton. The Mustangs drop to 0-2 on the season and return to the court Tuesday, hosting Brockport at 5 p.m. Nijee Scott (Bronx, N.Y.) was the lone player for Morrisville State to reach double figures, posting 14 points in the contest, while adding nine rebounds and three steals to her tallies. LaCandice Sanders (Waco, Tx.) added eight points in the efforts.

Host Oswego State men’s basketball claimed the 2012 Max Zeil Tournament Title Saturday night, posting a 83-59 victory over Morrisville State College. The Mustangs, who opened the season Friday with a 87-59 defeat of Medgar Evers, drops to 1-1 overall with the loss.

The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) recently announced its 2012 football all-conference teams, with five student-athletes from Morrisville State receiving post-season accolades. Senior offensive guard, Tim Hammond (Hudson Falls, N.Y.) earned first team offense honors following his prowess on the offensive line for the Mustangs this season. Hammond has served as a captain for the past two seasons, and is a four-year starter for Morrisville State. Off the field he serves as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representative for football.

The Morrisville State College men’s basketball team opened the 2012-13 season campaign Friday night, handing Medgar Evers a convincing 87-59 defeat in the first round of the Max Zeil Tip-Off Tournament held at SUNY Oswego.

Bard College scored 34 second half points to post a 53-51 comeback victory over Morrisville State College women’s basketball Friday evening in the opening round of the Kevin Fee/Roo Classic held at SUNY Canton. Morrisville State drops their first contest of the 2012-13 season campaign.
