Morrisville State College hosted two Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) western invitationals on Sunday, with the hosts claiming reserve and high point team honors.
In the morning show, Morrisville State was edged by SUNY Cobleskill for high point team, as the Fighting Tigers registered 23 team points to the Mustangs 18.
Morrisville State collected four blue ribbons on the morning, including one from Paige Jerrett (Parish, N.Y.) in the advanced western horsemanship class.
The Mustangs had a strong showing in the intermediate western horsemanship II class, with Marybeth Allen (Fort Plain, N.Y.), Carissa Pidkameny (Lindenhurst, N.Y.), and Rebecca Brunecz (Sugar Grove, Pa.) each topping their competition for the blue ribbon.
Morrisville State dominated the afternoon show, earning high point team accolades behind a 32 point team showing, with blue ribbons in eight of 10 classes. Cobleskill was reserve high point team with 19.
Kelsey Stewart (Cuttingsville, N.Y.) swept the reining and open western horsemanship classes with top place finishes, earning high point rider honors for the show. Teammate Rianna Nalepa (Endicott, N.Y.) was second in the reining class and third in the open horsemanship class to earn reserve high point rider accolades.
Kirby Dygert (Elma, N.Y.) as the top rider in the advanced western horsemanship class, while Morrisville State again swept the intermediate II class, with section wins from Brunecz, Briena Seidel (Gasport, N.Y.) and Caitlyn Soudan (Walworth, N.Y.).
Alexis Hansen (Taberg, N.Y.) posted her first collegiate win in the intermediate western horsemanship I class, pointing up to the intermediate II class.
Kaitlyn Saunders (Bennington, Vt.) rounded out blue ribbon winners for Morrisville State, topping all competition in the beginner horsemanship class.
Morrisville State returns to the riding arena on Sunday, Dec. 2nd, hosting a double show at the Swamp Road barn.
