The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) recently announced its 2012 football all-conference teams, with five student-athletes from Morrisville State receiving post-season accolades.
Senior offensive guard, Tim Hammond (Hudson Falls, N.Y.) earned first team offense honors following his prowess on the offensive line for the Mustangs this season. Hammond has served as a captain for the past two seasons, and is a four-year starter for Morrisville State. Off the field he serves as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee representative for football.
The graduate of Hudson Falls High is majoring in human performance and health promotion at Morrisville State. He is the son of Tammy Pfiscofsky and John Hammond of Hudson Falls.
Two received second team honors for the Mustangs, including sophomore running back Earl Snead (Wappinger Falls, N.Y.). Snead led Morrisville State in rushing in 2012, and was ranked eighth overall in the NJAC. In 10 games, he received the call 103 times, registered 560 rushing yards (5.4 yards per carry, 56.0 yards per game), and scored four touchdowns. Snead added 11 receptions for 121 yards and a score.
A graduate of Ketcham High, Snead is majoring in individual studies at Morrisville State. He is the son of Carol and Earl Snead of Wappinger Falls.
Junior defensive tackle, David Williams (Central Islip, N.Y.) also earned second team honors for Morrisville State. In 10 games with the Mustangs, Williams registered 32 total tackles, including 19 solo stops, six for a loss of 18 yards, including two sacks, while recording a pass breakup and recovering a fumble.
The West Babylon graduate is majoring in liberal arts and sciences: humanities and social science at Morrisville State. He is the son of Gale Williams of Central Islip.
Juniors Nate Ryan (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Jeremy Stewart (Moravia, N.Y.) each earned honorable mention honors for the second straight year.
Ryan started all 10 games for the Mustangs on the offensive line, recording two solo tackles. The three-year starter for Morrisville State served as captain this season. The graduate of Port Richmond High is majoring in automotive technology at Morrisville State. He is the son of Diane and John Ryan of Staten Island, New York.
Stewart, started all 10 games for the Mustangs at safety, served as captain, and was third on the team in total tackles on the year (61), including 32 solo stops. He ranks 27th overall in the conference in tackles per game (6.1). Two of Stewart’s stops were for a loss of six yards. Along with two passes defended, he also recorded an interception, recovered a fumble while forcing two, ranking ninth in the conference in fumbles forced.
The graduate of Moravia High is majoring in human performance and health promotion at Morrisville State. He is the son of Sandra Wilkinson and Charles Stewart of Moravia.
Morrisville State wrapped up the 2012 season with a 1-9 overall record, 1-7 in NJAC action, finishing 9th overall in the standings.
