The women's volleyball team won its second match in a row as the Hawks defeated SUNY Morrisville 3-1 (25-15, 25-17, 26-28, 25-18) on Tuesday evening at Lambros Arena on Dig Pink Night. With the win, Hartwick's record is now 5-11 while the Mustangs fall to 3-9. The Hawks built an 8-2 lead that increased to 14-7 and 17-9 as they took the first set 25-15. Hartwick held a steady lead throughout much of the second set with their lead growing to as much as 23-15 before claiming the set 25-17.
Sophomore Amanda Hunt (Tunkhannock, P.A.) and freshman Anthony Ostuni (Liverpool, N.Y.) were top finishers for the Morrisville State College women’s and men’s cross country teams at the Cazenovia Homecoming Cross Country Invitational, Saturday in Cazenovia. Both the men’s and women’s team finished 6th overall while completing a clean sweep of all North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) teams participating, including host Cazenovia College, Keuka College and SUNY IT.
Visiting Morrisville State College women’s volleyball picked up their third win of the 2012 season, topping host Utica College 3-1 in a thrilling match Sunday afternoon in Utica. Morrisville State improves to 3-8 overall, claiming the victory with set scores of 28-26, 25-22, 21-25 and 25-14. Dayna Scurry (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led Morrisville State’s attack with a team high 19 kills, adding a solo block, while teammate Tiffany Jones-Maxwell (Hamilton, N.Y.) added 13 kills and 2.5 blocks at the net.
Morrisville State College women’s volleyball dropped two matches Saturday afternoon at the SUNY Canton tri-match, falling 3-0 to host Canton, before suffering a 3-0 defeat to Oswego. The Mustangs fall to 2-8 overall, and return to the court Tuesday, traveling to Hartwick for a non-conference match. Canton claimed the first match with set scores of 25-13, 25-16 and 25-11 behind a nine kill performance by Jessica Reynolds.
Morrisville State College put together their best offensive effort to date on the season, but fell short as visiting Kean University collected the 51-28 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) win Saturday afternoon during Mustang Weekend (Homecoming) in Morrisville. The Mustangs fall to 0-5 overall, 0-3 in NJAC play, while Kean pulls even at 2-2, improving to 2-0 in conference action.
Release courtesy of Michael Nosek BENNINGTON, Vt. – The Southern Vermont College women’s soccer team defeated the Mustangs of Morrisville St., 2-0, on Thursday afternoon.  The Mountaineers had goals scored by junior Kaitlyn Forant (Hardwick, Vt.) and senior Shawnee Webster (Hoosick, N.Y.).
Morrisville State College men’s soccer outshot the visiting Albany College of Pharmacy Panthers 35 to 3 in non-conference action Thursday evening in Morrisville, N.Y. Jacob Chase (, N.Y.) tallied both goals for Morrisville State, helping the Mustangs to improve to 6-3-1 overall. Chase scored his first goal of the evening just over 10 minutes into the game when he collected a cross from junior forward Tom Huber (West Islip, N.Y.), made a great touch around a Panther defender and finished the shot past diving goal keeper, Adam Hoye-Simek.
Morrisville State College athletic director, Greg Carroll, has named Steven Kaneshiki the head coach of the women’s basketball program for the 2012-2013 season. Kaneshiki comes to Morrisville State from The College at Brockport where he served as assistant coach for the past season, serving as recruiting coordinator while working with the post players and assisting with day-to-day operations of the program. Prior to joining the Golden Eagles, Kaneshiki served as the head coach of the women’s program at Cumberland County College for three straight seasons.
Visiting Morrisville State College women’s volleyball fell 3-0 to host SUNY Canton, Friday night in Canton, by final set scores of 12-25, 12-25 and 11-25 in non-conference action. Morrisville State drops their third straight match and fall to 2-6 overall, while Canton improves to 11-2. Tiffany Jones-Maxwell (Hamilton, N.Y.) led the Mustangs attack game with four kills, as Lindsay Easterly (Cazenovia, N.Y.) assisted nine on the night. Jerrae Morgan  (Manhattan, N.Y.) led the defensive efforts, registering a team high six digs on the night.
The Morrisville State College athletics department has named senior Rebecca Meyer (Morrisville, N.Y.) and freshman Anthony Ostuni (Liverpool, N.Y.) it’s Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 23.
