The Morrisville State College athletics department has named senior Rebecca Meyer (Morrisville, N.Y.) and freshman Anthony Ostuni (Liverpool, N.Y.) it’s Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 23.
Meyer, midfielder for the field hockey team, tallied a goal and three assists in a 1-2 week for the Mustangs. Switched from forward to midfield this week, Meyer has been a threat to opponents, generating the Morrisville State offensive attack. In the 10-0 onslaught of Becker on Sunday, Meyer registered two assists, while serving as a flyer on penalty corners.
The graduate of Morrisville-Eaton Central is majoring in criminal justice at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Nancy Pitsley and Ed Meyer of Morrisville.
Ostuni, a freshman runner for the men’s cross country team, set a new Morrisville State freshman 8k record over the weekend at the Houghton Invitational, crossing the finish line with a time of 27:42.69, an individual place finish of 20th. His race time moved him into sixth overall on the all-time 8k list.
Morrisville State finished fifth overall out of 15 teams competing in the invitational.
Ostuni is a graduate of Liverpool High and is majoring in business administration at Morrisville State.
