Sophomore Amanda Hunt (Tunkhannock, P.A.) and freshman Anthony Ostuni (Liverpool, N.Y.) were top finishers for the Morrisville State College women’s and men’s cross country teams at the Cazenovia Homecoming Cross Country Invitational, Saturday in Cazenovia. Both the men’s and women’s team finished 6th overall while completing a clean sweep of all North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) teams participating, including host Cazenovia College, Keuka College and SUNY IT.
Hunt led the women’s team, finishing 4th overall out of 78 runners with a time of 21:38 with Celine Eppolito (North Collins, N.Y.) finishing next for Morrisville, placing 32nd with a time of 24:25.3. Evelia Hehir (Washingtonville, N.Y.), Cassie Dunbar (Verona, N.Y.) and Lindsay Clark(Central Square, N.Y.) rounded out team scoring, finishing 44th, 47th and 49th respectively.
Ostuni finished first for the men’s team, crossing in 18th place out of 99 participants with a time of 29:13. Austin Hirsch (Morrisville, N.Y.) finished next for the Mustangs in 27th place with a time of 30:01 with Shawn Okula (Medford, N.Y.), Ben Sargrad (Manlius, N.Y.) and Matthew Kennedy (Cooperstown, N.Y.) rounding out team scoring with 28th, 34th and 62nd place finishes, respectively.
Morrisville State competes next at the Hamilton College Invitational on Saturday, October 6th at 11:00 AM.
