Abington, P.A. – Sophomore Amanda Hunt (Tunkhannock, P.A.) and senior Austin Townsley (Horseheads, N.Y.) were top finishers for the Morrisville State College women’s and men’s cross country teams at the Penn State Abington Cross Country Invitational, Saturday in Abington.

Visiting Oneonta State field hockey tallied four second half scores to top host Morrisville State College Saturday morning by a 4-0 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) final on Drake Field in Morrisville.
Morrisville State drops to 1-5 overall, 0-2 in conference play, while Oneonta improves to 4-2 overall, 1-0 in SUNYAC action.

Morrisville State College men’s soccer scored with four minutes remaining in the first half and twice in the first 12 minutes of the second half to beat SUNY IT 3-0 in conference play on Saturday afternoon.
Karim Ouedraogo (Burkina Faso) scored his first goal of his collegiate career when he beat Wildcats goalkeeper, Malick Faye to a 50/50 ball, giving the Mustangs the lead at 41:10.

Visiting Morrisville State College held host Montclair State University to just seven points, but couldn’t find the end zone offensively, as they fell short in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) defensive battle Saturday afternoon in Montclair, New Jersey.
Morrisville State drops to 0-3 on the season, 0-1 in conference play, while the Red Hawks collect their first win of 2012 to improve to 1-2 overall, 1-0 in NJAC action.

SUNY IT scored five first half goals on their way to beating Morrisville State College 8-2 in conference play on Saturday.
Stephanie Wurz opened up the scoring for the Wildcats when she took a pass from Abbey Hanehan and slotted the ball near post past Mustangs goalkeeper, Jennifer Zidzik (Lambertville, N.J.). Abbey Hanehan scored her first of four on the day next when she finished a pass from Katie Driscoll.

SUNY Oswego field hockey picked up their first win of the 2012 season, defeating visiting Morrisville State 4-0, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action Friday afternoon in Oswego.
Morrisville State drops to 1-4 overall, 0-1 in conference play, while the Lakers improve to 1-3, 1-0 in the SUNYAC.
Oswego notched the first tally of the afternoon just 1:13 into the contest as Michelle Ruskey connected with Alyssa Hare for the early score.

The Morrisville State College athletics department has named senior Sarah Angerer (Cooperstown, N.Y.) and freshman Daniel Peckham (Webster, N.Y.) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 9.
Angerer, forward for the field hockey team, tallied two goals, including the game winner, in the 3-1 victory over Wells College to give the Mustangs their first win of the season. She currently leads the team in goals scored.

Morrisville State College head coach, Jason Longo, has announced the addition of Brian Frankenfield to the men’s lacrosse coaching staff for the 2012-13 season.
Frankenfield comes to Morrisville State from the Central Square Upstate Lacrosse League where he has been involved in all aspects of the program since 2009. Aside from coaching, Frankenfield also served as the technical advisor for the league, overseeing all teams.

The Morrisville State College women’s soccer team dropped their second straight to a conference opponent, losing to Cazenovia College 6-1 Wednesday afternoon.
The Wildcats (3-2-1, 1-1 NEAC) struck early, scoring a goal just 42 seconds into the game when senior midfielder Megan McDermott scored her first of two on the day.

The Morrisville College Equine Institute will hold its twenty-third annual Fall Yearling Sale Sept. 24 at 11 a.m. at the college's Nancy Sears Stowell Arena on Swamp Road. The preview day for the sale, the largest of its kind in New York state, is Sept. 23.

Morrisville State falls to 1-2 overall, while Utica remains untouched at 3-0.
Kissandra Blaiser (Canastota, N.Y.) scored her first collegiate goal for the Mustangs, notching the score late in the second half off an assist from Ilze Stots (Clinton Corners, N.Y.).

Despite taking a 1-0 lead into the second half, the Morrisville State Mustangs couldn’t hold off Lancaster Bible and settled for a 3-3 tie in the opening game of conference play. The Mustangs are now 1-2-1 overall and 0-0-1 in conference play.
The Mustangs took an early lead as Brian Culkin (West Islip, N.Y.) scored off a Sanley Pierre-Louis (Gaithersburg, M.D.) assist just over six minutes into the game.

The Morrisville State College women’s soccer team fell to Lancaster Bible College 9-0 Friday night in Lancaster. The team’s overall record falls to 0-2-1, while their conference record is now 0-1.
Lancaster Bible score three times in the first ten minutes of the game before going on to beat the Mustangs 9-0 in the opening weekend of conference play.

Despite holding R.I.T. to one goal in the first half, the Mustangs could not hold off the Tigers relentless attack. R.I.T. came out strong, controlling the ball for much of the first half and creating several scoring opportunities that the Mustangs were able to stave off. R.I.T. kept coming, however, and proved to be too much for Morrisville State, who dropped their home opener this afternoon 5-1.

The Morrisville State College athletic department has named Gilroy Alvarez (Guatemala) and Tyler Dunworth (Poestenkill, N.Y.) it’s Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 1.
Alvarez, sophomore forward, led the Mustangs men’s soccer team to a third place finish at the SUNY Potsdam College Cup over the weekend, tallying a goal and an assist for three team points.
