The Morrisville State College athletics department has named sophomores Lindsay Easterly (Cazenovia, N.Y.) and Jacob Chase (Cooperstown, N.Y.) it’s Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 16.
Easterly led the women’s volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Paul Smith’s College on Saturday, as the Mustangs earned their first win of the 2012 season. In the match she tallied three kills, 21 assists, 1 block, six service aces and five digs at setter, while Morrisville State posted set victories of 25-10, 25-12, 25-14.
A graduate of Cazenovia High, Easterly is majoring in liberal arts and sciences: humanities and social science at Morrisville State. She is the daughter of Karen and Rick Easterly of Cazenovia.
A forward for the men’s soccer team, Chase tallied two goals and assisted two others for six team points in a 2-0 week for the Mustangs. In the 2-1 victory over Oswego on Wednesday, he posted both tallies before notching two assists as Morrisville State collected a 3-0 conference victory over SUNY IT on Saturday.
Chase currently leads the team in scoring, posting three goals and two assists to date on the season.
The graduate of Cooperstown High is majoring in criminal justice at Morrisville State. He is the son of Evan and Dawn Chase of Cooperstown.
