Visiting Morrisville State College women’s volleyball battled tough Wednesday night but fell short as conference rival Cazenovia College collected the 3-0 victory with set scores of 25-18, 25-22, and 25-23 in Cazenovia.
Morrisville State drops to 1-3 overall, 0-1 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. Cazenovia improves to 1-8 overall, 1-0 in NEAC play.
Tiffany Jones-Maxwell (Hamilton, N.Y.) led Morrisville State’s efforts with 12 kills on the night, while posting two assisted blocks. Dana Maythenyi (Fallsburg, N.Y.) added seven kills and two assisted blocks, while teammate Jasmine Hairston-Harris (Yonkers, N.Y.) added five kills and 2.5 total blocks in the Mustang efforts.
Lindsay Easterly (Cazenovia, N.Y.) registered 24 assists, adding five defensive digs to her tallies, while Kylie Murphy (Nichols, N.Y.) led the Morrisville State defensive efforts with 11 digs.
Morrisville State returns to the court Saturday, traveling to Wells College for the first weekend of conference cross over divisional play. The Mustangs will face Penn State Harrisburg at 2 p.m., following with Gallaudet at 4 p.m., before wrapping up the weekend action against Penn State Abington on Sunday.
