COBLESKILL, N.Y.: One of the oldest men’s soccer rivalries in New York State played out on Wednesday afternoon in a driving rainstorm and soggy field conditions as visiting Morrisville State College out sloshed SUNY Cobleskill 5-2 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. The loss drops the Fighting Tigers to 0-5-1 overall with a 0-2 mark in NEAC play while the Mustangs improve to 4-2-1 overall with a 2-0-1 mark versus conference opponents.
The visitors took advantage of the Cobleskill defense from the start scoring the first five goals of the contest including three in the opening stanza to lead 3-0 at the half including the eventual game winner by freshman midfielder Karim Ouedraogo, Bukina Faso, International Collegiate High School, in the games 31st minute.
The Fighting Tigers scored two late goals in the contest as freshman midfielder Zach Horvath, South Glens Falls, N.Y., South Glens Falls High School, and freshman midfielder Eli Richards, East Aurora, N.Y., East Aurora High School, each tallied unassisted goals for the home team.
