COBLESKILL, N.Y.: The SUNY Cobleskill women’s soccer team broke a three-game losing streak on Wednesday afternoon by defeating visiting North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) rival Morrisville State College by a 4-1 margin. The Fighting Tigers improve 2-5 overall with a 2-2 mark in conference action while the Mustangs fall to 0-5-1 overall including a 0-4 mark in NEAC play.
Cobleskill senior forward Kaitlyn Enright, Rotterdam, N.Y., Mohonasen High School/Hudson Valley Community College, exploded for a pair of goals and an assist on the afternoon with sophomore midfielder/forward Emily Bannister, Kent, N.Y., Albion High School, and junior midfielder Andrea Lisk, Glenfield, N.Y., South Lewis High School, each contributing a goal to the team’s victory totals.
In the net, junior Amanda Wallace, Phoenix, N.Y., Phoenix High School/Onondaga Community College, notched her first win of the season by recording nine saves including one on a Mustang penalty kick.
The lone Morrisville State goal of the contest came in the 75th minute of play on a rebounded shot by sophomore forward Lindsay Peri, Marathon, N.Y., Marathon High School, who broke up the Cobleskill shutout with a point blank put back effort.
The Fighting Tigers will next take to the road on Saturday September 22 when they travel to Reading, Pa. to face the Nittany Lions of Penn State Berks with kick-off at 1:00 p.m. before traveling to Abington, Pa. on Sunday September 23 to face the Nittany Lions of Penn State Abington with kick-off at 12:00 p.m.
Morrisville State will return to action next travel to Chambersburg, Pa. on Saturday September 22 to face the Phoenix of Wilson College in conference action at 3:00 p.m. before traveling to Brunswick, N.J. on Sunday September 23 to face the Screaming Eagles of the College of Saint Elizabeth for a NEAC contest to be played at the New Jersey Knights Complex beginning at 1:00 p.m.
