The Morrisville State College athletic department has named junior cross country runner, Austin Townsley (Horseheads, N.Y.) the Mustangs Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 4.
Townsley led the men's team to a second place finish at the Wildcat Invitational held at SUNYIT on Saturday, pacing the Mustangs with a 21:05 time in the 6K race, crossing the line in seventh overall out of 134 individual runners.

R.I.T. senior forward Dan Holowaty (Strongsville, OH/St. Ignatius) scored a career high three goals as the RIT men's soccer team defeated Morrisville State 4-0 in non-conference action at RIT Field. The loss puts the Mustangs at 0-2 on the season.
Holowaty gave RIT a 1-0 lead in the 32nd minute on a header off an assist from Danny Bloshkin (Liverpool, N.Y.).

Morrisville State College field hockey fell in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon to host Wells College on a late second half score by Brittany Stanton, in Aurora.
Morrisville State's Brandi Rafalko (Great Meadow, N.J.) put the lone Mustang score into the net 13:06 into the first half, firing a penalty stroke over the shoulder of Wells keeper, Amanda Catalano.

Morrisville's Sanley Pierre-Louis (Gaithersburg, M.D.) scored the lone goal of the game just under seven minutes in, putting the Mustangs ahead 1-0.

Morrisville State women's soccer struggles in season opener against Lyndon St, losing 0-7 as the Hornets scored three goals in the first half, and kept the lead throughout the game, scoring an additional four in the second half.
Both Emily Strese (Gilmanton, N.H.) and Michelle Wilcox (Sheldon, V.T.) tallied two goals for the Hornets, while Megan Phelps (Lyndonville, V.T.), Sarah Cornell(Lyndonville, V.T.), and Hilary Bonasera (Chelsea, V.T.) each added one.

The Morrisville State College football team rallied for a second half comeback attempt, but fell short, suffering a 14-11 non-conference loss to visiting Hartwick College Saturday night in Morrisville in the 2011 season opener.
The Mustangs put together an early 68-yard scoring drive with 11:38 remaining in the fourth to pull to within three, but failed to capitalize on additional opportunities as Hartwick held on for the win.

The Morrisville State College men's soccer team participated in the Helpers on the Homefront 5k run Saturday, August 27th, raising and donating more than $800 to the Wounded Warrior Project.
Founded in 2003, the WWP was created to honor and empower wounded warriors who incur service-related wounds, injuries and illnesses while serving in our country's military branches since September 11, 2001.

The Mustangs enter the contest following a 2-8 record (2-7 NJAC, 8th place) in 2010, returning 17 starters to the line-up this season.

Morrisville State College fall student-athletes took a break during preseason workouts Friday to assist with new student move in day on the campus, kicking off the 2011-12 athletic department community service efforts for the upcoming year.
Student-athletes from both the football and men's soccer programs offered assistance unloading moving trucks and helping new students move items into their dorm rooms, as Morrisville State welcomed the class of 2015.

Morrisville State College professor Dr. Christopher Scalzo took his vast entrepreneurial expertise overseas this summer to help several companies in Kenya and Lebanon.
The associate professor of business and entrepreneurship first traveled to Kenya, East Africa, for three weeks to continue his efforts in helping a soy and maize producing company enhance its operations.

Morrisville State compiled a 2-8 record (2-7 NJAC) in their fourth season within the conference in 2010, posting league wins over Brockport and Western Connecticut.

The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced the Sportsmanship and Inspirational Award winners for the 2010-11 year, naming Morrisville State College's Thomas Longland (Dunnville, ONT) the recipient of the Individual Sportsmanship Award.
“We're excited for such a significant honor to have been bestowed on Tom. He really exemplifies everything you would want in a college athlete,” said Greg Carroll, Morrisville State's Director of Athletics.

The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) recently announced its 2010-11 NEAC Scholar-Athlete recipients, naming 17 Morrisville State College student-athletes to the academic honor list.
To be named a scholar-athlete, students must achieve a GPA of 3.4 or higher for the fall and spring semesters combined while participating in a NEAC sponsored sport.
