Women's soccer tops Southern Vermont 1-0

The Morrisville State women's soccer team tops Southern Vermont 1-0 in non-conference play today at Morrisville State's Drake Field. The Mustangs improve to 1-2 overall on the season, while the Mountaineers fall to 1-2.



After playing a scoreless first half Erin Rundle (Marathon, N.Y.) put the Mustangs ahead for good, scoring just over five minutes into the second half with a shot off the far post. The goal was unassisted and Rundle's first of the season.



Morrisville State goalkeeper Jennifer Zidzik (Lambertville, N.J.) recorded the win, with two saves playing over 70 minutes. Erin Bergold (Equinunk, P.A.) tallied 1 save and finished out the last 20 minutes for the Mustangs. Catrina Cecchini (Montville, C.T.) recorded the loss for Southern Vermont, playing all 90 minutes and tallying 6 saves



Morrisville State returns to action on Tuesday, September 13 at 6 p.m. against conference rival Cazenovia College.
