The work of artist Diane Castle Babcock is on display at the Morrisville State Donald G. Butcher Library until April 1. Babcock has been practicing the art of linoleum block printing for more than 20 years. Using a process called the reduction method, she cuts away from one block continually in order to create multiple color images.

The Empire 8 Athletic Conference officially announced the addition of Morrisville State College as an affiliate member beginning with the 2015 season. Morrisville State has been a football-only member of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) since the 2008 year, and is coming off its best season since transitioning to Division III in 2006. The Mustangs produced a 3-7 overall record, finished sixth in conference standings at 2-5, had nine all-conference selections including NJAC Offensive Player of the Year, Lemar Johnson (Ossining, N.Y.).

Matt McDaniels stood calmly, his adrenaline racing as a masked man pointed a rifle at a tavern employee demanding money. After verbal commands to drop the weapon went unheeded, McDaniels quickly reached for the firearm in his holster and shot the gunman. The simulated exercise was part of a criminal justice contest during the Region II BOCES SkillsUSA competition held recently at Morrisville State. The “Shoot, Don’t Shoot” simulator is a high-tech device that provides participants with real-life scenarios and an inside look at a career in law enforcement.

Morrisville State recently recognized students who participated and achieved certification in the college's Emerging Leaders in Today's Environment Leadership (ELITE) Series program during the fall 2013 semester. The following students were named ELITE leaders:

Three posted double figures for the Morrisville State College women’s basketball team on Wednesday night, but couldn’t get past visiting Wells College as they fell 55-46 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) competition. With the loss, Morrisville State drops to 6-18 overall, 3-12 in conference play. Wells improves to 16-7, 11-3 in NEAC action.

A trio of seniors paced host Morrisville State College to a 83-65 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) win over visiting Wells College Wednesday night, lifting the Mustangs to a 15-8 overall record, 11-5 in conference play. Center Tom Wilk (Cortland, N.Y.) led the Mustang charge with 19 points, adding five rebounds, while teammate Kucjok Ater (Syracuse, N.Y.) posted 14 points, adding a team high six rebounds and five assists to his tallies. Jordan Prior (Cortland, N.Y.) rounded out the Mustang leaderboard with 13 points assisting another six.

The Morrisville State College western equestrian team completed the regular season Saturday, hosting two shows at the Swamp Road barn, and dominated the competition as they collected high point team honors in each show. Morrisville State collected 36 team points in the morning show behind a high point rider performance from Rianna Nalepa (Endicott, N.Y.), who took home the blue ribbon in the open reining class, and a third place finish in the open western horsemanship class.

The Morrisville State College hunt seat team took to the arena Saturday at Skidmore College, and picked up where they left off at the semester break by collecting reserve high point team honors for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) competition held in Saratoga Springs. Skidmore earned high point team honors with 49 points, while Morrisville State edged Hartwick by one point to collect reserve accolades with 32 team points. Hartwick had 31 on the day, Colgate 28 and Siena 26 to round out the top five.

A new acquisition is adding torque to Morrisville State's automotive technology—Ford ASSET program. A 2013 Ford Escape, donated by Ford Motor Company, recently joined the program's fleet of Ford-donated vehicles which are delivering top-notch training to auto students. Equipped with an EcoBoost engine and all-wheel drive, the new, ruby red ride is part of a hands-on approach that is introducing Morrisville State automotive students to the latest technologies and putting them in the driver's seat in the industry.
