Morrisville State recently received a silver honor for its alumni Website. Kelly Gardner, coordinator of Alumni Relations and Jennifer Pierce, web developer at Morrisville State, received the award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) in the category Website: Alumni Relations. Their entry, “Morrisville State College Alumni Website Redesign 2013,” was recognized for its use of an alumni news section to highlight specific individuals, direct messaging and its creative and innovative content.
“Monsters” and their relationship in the modern world will be the focus of Morrisville State’s annual Science Technology and Society Symposium, “Monsters: Killer Robots, Mad Scientists and Abominations” taking place April 17 in the John W. Stewart Center for Student Activities (STUAC).
Morrisville State students joined some of the top chefs in Central New York in support of the American Red Cross during the 28th Great Chef's dinner held recently at the Skaneateles Country Club. This year's dinner, which featured several of the best chefs from the finest restaurants in Central New York, served up seven courses, including appetizers, hors d'oeuvres, amuse-bouches, an array of succulent entrees and a grand dessert in the shape of a 1950s-era kitchen, with decorative touches made from flour, sugar, chocolate and other edible products.
Morrisville State professor Corey Hayes' fascination with rabbits is taking him out of the classroom and into an overseas adventure. The rabbit hobbyist and assistant professor of agricultural business management, has been selected to be a judge at the third Malaysian American Rabbit Breeders Association (MARBA) National Rabbit Show April 12, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. “An experience like this allows you to grow as a person and I am looking forward to this opportunity,” said the Oneida resident about his trip to Southeast Asia.
Rob Simpson, President and CEO of CenterState Corporation for Economic Opportunity (CEO), will give a presentation at Morrisville State on April 3. The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 1 p.m. in Charlton Hall, Room 125. Simpson is a key economic development figure in Central New York, having been the Governor's appointed co-chair on Economic Development and allocation of state funds for CNY. He is also the leader of many of the current economic development initiatives in the region, working with the Governor's StartUp NY initiatives.
More than 30 professionals from the collision repair industry recently attended a paint clinic for Axalta Coating Systems at Morrisville State's auto body facility. Axalta Coating Systems, one of the largest coating companies in the world, provided opportunities for product representatives and others in the collision repair industry to paint, blend and test their newest product, Cromax ® MosaicTM, in the college's Garmat paint booth.
Morrisville State will host a fun Milk Run to benefit the experiential learning activities of the agricultural business and dairy science programs on Saturday, April 26. The free event, a 5k run or walk, will begin at 10 a.m. in front of Bailey Hall. Registration is not required and runners of all abilities are encouraged to participate. Yogurt, milk and cheese will be served following the event.
Come see what Morrisville State has to offer at its open house on Saturday, April 5 from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Participants are encouraged to tailor their own schedule based on what they want to learn about the campus including admissions, academics, athletics, financial aid, residence life and the Norwich Campus. The open house welcome starts at 9 a.m. in the Student Activities Center gymnasium followed by two academic sessions at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be provided from 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Seneca Dining Center.
Morrisville State College will be hosting employers from across the state at the 2014 Job and Internship Expo on April 1, from 12-2 p.m., in the John W. Stewart Center for Student Activities (STUAC) gym. More than 40 employers are expected. During the expo, employers representing a broad range of industries will be available to answer questions about their companies, hiring practices, current and potential part- and full-time positions, internships and volunteer opportunities. The free event is open to students, alumni and the public.
Morrisville State will host the annual meeting of the Mohawk Regional Dietetic Association on April 3, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., in the John W. Stewart Center for Student Activities (STUAC). The event, Food! Keeping it Local, will include discussions on how to increase the local and regional food supply in Central New York.
