Morrisville State library features artist

The work of artist Diane Castle Babcock is on display at the Morrisville State Donald G. Butcher Library until April 1.



Babcock has been practicing the art of linoleum block printing for more than 20 years. Using a process called the reduction method, she cuts away from one block continually in order to create multiple color images.



Babcock's drawings are inspired from being outdoors and her love of nature. Upon the completion of her drawings, she then transfers them onto battleship linoleum. Using various cutting and printing techniques, she creates shades of texture, light and depth that make her work so intriguing.



“My goal is to create work that is constantly moving, changing, and growing, just as nature evolves. I invite the viewer to come into the landscape and be part of the experience,” Babcock said.



Babcock obtained a bachelor's degree in studio art and a certification in art education from Nazareth College, and master's degree from SUNY at Binghamton. Her work can be viewed at the library which is open Monday-Thursday from 8 a.m.-midnight, Friday from 8 a.m. - 8 p.m., Saturday from 1- 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1-10 p.m.
