Morrisville State to host dietetic association meeting

Morrisville State will host the annual meeting of the Mohawk Regional Dietetic Association on April 3, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., in the John W. Stewart Center for Student Activities (STUAC).



The event, Food! Keeping it Local, will include discussions on how to increase the local and regional food supply in Central New York.



The meeting is intended for dietetic professionals and those interested in supporting and increasing the availability of local foods for home, school and commercial consumption. Participants will receive six continuing education units.



Speakers include: Sheila Marshman, assistant professor of agricultural business at Morrisville State, farm owner and president of New York Agri-Women; Jodee Osborne, nutrition outreach and education coordinator at Community Action Partnership for Madison County (CAP), Jane Nicholson-Dourdas, AICP, interim director of planning for Dryden and member of the Cazenovia Zoning Board of Appeals; Justine Deming, assistant professor of dairy science at Morrisville State; Kerry Beadle, assistant professor of food service administration at Morrisville State and executive chef at the Copper Turret, college-run restaurant; Kipp Hicks, executive director at the Madison County Industrial Development Agency (IDA) and CEO of the Madison County Capital Resource Corporation; Maryellen Sheehan, owner of Hartwood Farm in Chittenango; and Ray Denniston, special project coordinator for food services at Broome-Tioga BOCES and member of the NYS Anti-Hunger Task Force.



The event will also include a panel discussion and tours of the campus.
