The Morrisville State College softball team dropped their fourth straight Saturday afternoon, falling to conference opponent Keuka College in double header action 3-2 and 9-2, in Keuka Park. Morrisville State drops to 5-9 overall, 2-4 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. Keuka remains undefeated at 4-0. In game one, Cassandra Smith (Lansing, NY) hit a double in the top of the sixth inning to drive in two, giving Morrisville State the 2-0 lead over the Storm, but Keuka responded with two matching runs in the bottom of the inning.
The Morrisville State College men's lacrosse team remained undefeated in conference action Saturday afternoon, posting a 16-4 victory over host Penn State Abington in Abington, PA. With the win, Morrisville State improves to 6-2 overall, 3-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action, while Abington drops to 0-11 overall.
The Morrisville State College softball team dropped two conference games Friday afternoon to SUNY IT in Morrisville by a 5-2 and 13-0 final. Morrisville State drops to 5-7 overall, 2-2 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. SUNY IT improves to 10-3 overall, 6-0 in conference play. Morrisville State held a 2-1 lead over the top ranked conference team after six innings, but SUNY IT rallied for the game tying run in the top of the seventh to force the extra frame.
The Morrisville State College athletic department has named freshman Lesa Ward (South Glens Falls, NY) and sophomore Kayla Walker (Oneida, NY), its Mustang Co-Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 3. Ward, midfielder for the women's lacrosse team, contributed to their 2-1 week, netting three goals apiece in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) wins over Abington and St. Elizabeth this weekend.
The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its student-athletes of the week, naming Morrisville State College's Hillary Hartnett (Fairport, NY) its NEAC Women's Lacrosse Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 3. Hartnett led Morrisville State to a 2-1 week, 2-0 in conference play, netting 16 goals, three assists and picking up 18 ground balls in three games. In the win over Abington, she posted a collegiate best performance, leading the Mustangs with seven goals and an assist, while tallying 10 ground balls.
The Morrisville State College hunt seat equestrian team advanced three riders in four classes to the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone Championships following competition on Saturday at the Regional Championships in Saratoga Springs. Morrisville State finished second overall as a team in regional competition. Morrisville State crowned two regional champions, including Teal Pedersen (Manorville, NY) in the intermediate equitation on the flat class and Jamie Anderson (Harpursville, NY) in the walk trot class.

The Morrisville State College softball team opened North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action Saturday afternoon, with a 9-4 and 14-9 sweep of the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers in Cobleskill. The wins boost the Mustangs to 5-5 overall, 2-0 in NEAC action. Cobleskill drops to 0-6 overall, 0-4 in conference play. In the first of the afternoon, Kayla Walker (Oneida, NY) hit a triple in the first inning to score three runners as Morrisville State took the early 4-0 lead after one.
Morrisville State College will be discontinuing its sponsorship of men's wrestling as an intercollegiate sport effective the 2011-2012 academic year, according to Greg Carroll, the college's director of athletics. Carroll said the decision to drop wrestling came after careful consideration of all aspects of the sport's place within the colleges' National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Department.
