The Morrisville State College women's lacrosse team picked up their first win of the season, handing conference opponent, College of St. Elizabeth, an 18-4 defeat Saturday afternoon in Raritan, New Jersey.
Morrisville State improves to 1-4 overall, 1-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action, while St. Elizabeth drops to 1-5 overall.
Elizabeth Peck (Antwerp, NY) gave Morrisville State the early 1-0 lead and Meghan Murray responded for the Soaring Eagles, but the Mustangs added 11 more, three from Hillary Hartnett (Fairport, NY), for a 12-2 halftime advantage.
Morrisville State out scored St. Elizabeth 6-2 in the second half, collecting the conference victory.
Hartnett, Erin Rundle (Marathon, NY), and Lesa Ward (South Glens Falls, NY) each tallied three goals in the win for the Mustangs, Hartnett adding two assists and Rundle one to their tallies. Six additional teammates contributed to the win, including Alison Falkenburgh (Blue Point, NY) with two goals and two assists.
Allison Strub (Midlakes, NY) picked up the win between the pipes, saving seven.
Murray led St. Elizabeth with three tallies as Dina Toledo added the final Soaring Eagle score. Barbara Beresova recorded the loss in net, saving 10.
Morrisville State returns to the field Sunday at Penn State Abington.
