The Morrisville State College softball team dropped their fourth straight Saturday afternoon, falling to conference opponent Keuka College in double header action 3-2 and 9-2, in Keuka Park.
Morrisville State drops to 5-9 overall, 2-4 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action. Keuka remains undefeated at 4-0.
In game one, Cassandra Smith (Lansing, NY) hit a double in the top of the sixth inning to drive in two, giving Morrisville State the 2-0 lead over the Storm, but Keuka responded with two matching runs in the bottom of the inning.
In the extra frame, a costly error scored the Keuka base runner to give the Storm the 3-2 win.
Smith led the Mustangs from the plate, hitting 1-for-2 with two RBI's, while Eileen Farrell (Johnsonville, NY) went 2-for-4.
Jenna D'Ercole (Highland, NY) recorded the loss on the mound, allowing four hits in seven innings, while tallying eight strikr-outs.
Keuka jumped out to a 4-0 lead after four innings in the second of the day, before Nicole Geier (Mayfield, NY) hit a double to score two, cutting the lead to 4-2, but the Storm responded with five runs over two innings to claim the win.
Geier and Molly Carroll (West Hurley, NY) each were 1-for-3 from the plate.
Amber Nichilo (Staten Island, NY) recorded the loss, throwing six innings and allowing seven earned runs.
Morrisville State returns to the field tomorrow, hosting SUNY Cobleskill for NEAC double header action.
