The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its All-Conference Team selections Wednesday, naming Morrisville State College freshman midfielder Erin Rundle (Marathon, NY) to its second team. Rundle becomes the first member of the women's soccer team to earn All-Conference honors. Leading the team with five goals and two assists for a total of 12 points, Rundle tallied two of the three game winning goals for the Mustangs. Midway through the year she posted a collegiate best two goals in a conference win over Gallaudet.
Host Nazareth College posted a comeback victory over visiting Morrisville State College, scoring four straight, including three in the second half, as they topped the Mustangs 4-1 in non-conference action at Nazareth. Morrisville State concludes the 2011 season with a 1-17 overall record. Sarah Angerer (Cooperstown, NY) netted the lone score for the Mustangs 12:42 into the first half, as Rebecca Quackenbush (Barker, NY) collected the assist.
The Morrisville State College hunt seat equestrian team compiled 35 team points, just one shy of reserve show champion Hartwick, to place third overall at the Hartwick College Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) invitational Saturday in Oneonta. Skidmore was show champion with 43 team points, followed by Hartwick with 36. Albany tallied 34 for fourth, Colgate 31, Cobleskill 30, Oneonta 25, RPI 20, Sienna 20 and Union 12 to round out team scoring.
Kiersten Ryan scored twice to lead host RPI to a 5-3 victory over visiting Morrisville State College field hockey Saturday afternoon in Troy. The Mustangs drop to 1-16 on the season. Ryan registered two quick tallies for RPI within the first five minutes of the contest, before Alissa Peterson added another for the three goal advantage just eight minutes in.
Visiting Plattsburgh State hockey scored twice in the final period to top host Morrisville State College by a 6-4 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) final Saturday night in Morrisville. Morrisville State slips to 1-1-0 overall, while Plattsburgh picks up their first win of 2011. Curtis Renaud (Carlisle, ONT) led the Mustangs with two goals and an assist, while Jamie Nelson (Stratford, ONT) and Rafal Plonski (Warsaw, Poland) each added a score.
William Paterson (3-5, 2-5 NJAC) overcame blizzard-like conditions, kicking a late field goal to defeat Morrisville State (1-7, 1-6 NJAC), 17-15, during a snowstorm Oct. 29 at Wightman Stadium.
Greg Johnsmeyer (West Hurley, N.Y.) and Amanda Hunt (Laceyville, P.A.) became the first Morrisville State College cross country runners to place in the top five at a championship event, placing 5th and 4th, respectively, at Saturday's North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championships held at SUNY Cobleskill.
Morrisville State College freshman Greg Johnsmeyer (West Hurley, N.Y) was the first rookie to cross the finish line at Saturday's North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championships held at SUNY Cobleskill, earning him the NEAC's inaugural Rookie of the Year award. Johnsmeyer finished fifth overall out of 86 runners at the 8K Men's NEAC Championship with a time of 29:44.16, leading the Mustangs to a 3rd place finish overall. The fifth place finish also earned him All-Conference first team honors.
Morrisville State College had five earn North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Cross Country All-Conference honors following their performance at the conference championships.
Sophomore Taylor Vince (Barrie, ONT) scored once and assisted another to lead the Morrisville State College men's ice hockey team to a season opening 4-1 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) victory over SUNY Potsdam Friday night in Morrisville. Geoff Matzel (Chittenango, NY), Todd Hosmer (Scarborough, ONT), and Patrick Stillar (Burlington, ONT) each tallied a goal for the Mustangs in the victory.
