Nationally ranked #19 Kean University posted the 26-13 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) victory over visiting Morrisville State College football Saturday afternoon in Union, New Jersey, behind a 157 yard rushing and two touchdown performance by Darius Kinney. Morrisville State drops to 1-6 overall, 1-5 in conference play, while the Cougars improve to 6-1, 5-1 in NJAC action.
The Morrisville State College athletic department has named freshman Tiffany Jones-Maxwell (Hamilton, NY) and sophomore Lemar Johnson (Ossining, NY) the Mustang Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 9. Jones-Maxwell, outside hitter, led the women's volleyball team to a 1-3 record at the Oswego State Laker Invitational over the weekend, recording a collegiate best 25 kills in the 3-2 win over Oswego on Friday. On the weekend she tallied 38 total kills, an assist, seven defensive digs, and seven solo blocks, earning All-Tournament Team honors.
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) released its 2011-12 preseason men's ice hockey poll coaches poll, ranking Morrisville State College sixth overall. Oswego earned the top spot, followed by Plattsburgh, Geneseo, Fredonia and Buffalo State. Brockport is ranked seventh, followed by Cortland and Potsdam. Morrisville State posted an NCAA best 11-13-1 record last season, and compiled an 8-7-1 record in conference play, while advancing to the conference championship tournament for the second straight season.
Visiting Oswego State Lakers needed extra time to get past Morrisville State field hockey, pulling off a 5-4 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) victory over the Mustangs Wednesday night in Morrisville. Morrisville State drops to 1-13 overall (0-6 in conference play) while Oswego improves to 7-10 overall, 2-4 in SUNYAC action. Kelly Collins led the Lakers with two goals and an assist while teammate Alyssa Hare added two tallies. Courtney Collins also recorded a score.
The Morrisville State men's soccer team fell to the D'Youville Spartans this afternoon, 2-1. The Mustangs record is now 3-8-3 overall and 3-3-2 in conference play. D'Youville scored first after they were awarded a penalty kick after the Mustangs' were issued a red card for a handball inside the penalty box. Neil Janes took the penalty kick for the Spartans, beating goalkeeper Shane Sullivan at 23:03.
The Morrisville State College athletic department has named Sanley Pierre-Louis (Gaithersburg, MD) the male athlete of the week and Erin Rundle (Marathon, NY) and Rebecca Quackenbush (Barker, NY) the co-female athletes of the week for the week ending October 16. Pierre-Louis led the men's soccer team in the 4-1 win over Gallaudet, recording two goals, including the game winner as the men's team improved to 3-3-2 in conference play on Sunday.
Morrisville State College freshman runner, Amanda Hunt (Laceyville, PA) has been named the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 16. At the CCOC Championships held at William Smith College on Saturday, Hunt finished the race in 14th position out of 126 runners with a time of 22:02.32 to lead the women's team to an eighth overall finish in the 5k race. Out of five competing conference institutions, Hunt was the top finisher for the conference.

Morrisville State improves to 3-7-3 overall, 3-3-2 in conference play, while Gallaudet continues to look for their first victory, posting an overall 0-11 record, 0-7 in NEAC action.
Sophomore midfielder, Erin Rundle (Marathon, NY) netted two goals to lead the Morrisville State College women's soccer team to a 3-1 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory over visiting Gallaudet University Sunday afternoon in Morrisville. Morrisville State improves to 3-9-1 overall, 2-7-1 in conference play. Rundle put the Mustangs on the board early in the contest, firing a shot from the top of the box over the head of Gallaudet keeper Casey McCullough just 2:22 in.
Morrisville State College football gave away possession five times in the contest, including three in the second half, as visiting Rowan University claimed the 36-17 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) victory Saturday afternoon in Morrisville. Morrisville State drops to 1-5 overall, 1-4 in conference action, while Rowan improves to 4-2 on the season, 4-1 in NJAC play.
