Third year head coach Kyle Graves (12-16-5 overall record, two seasons) has announced senior striker Sanley Pierre-Louis (Gaithersburg, Md.) as the Morrisville State men’s soccer teams’ lone captain for the 2012 season. A two-time all-conference team selection at striker, Pierre-Louis has appeared in 44 games for the Mustangs and has recorded 18 goals and three assists for a total of 39 points in three seasons.

The Morrisville State College women’s soccer team brings a young, but excited squad into the 2012 season. After losing their top goal scorer and North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) All-Conference team selection, Erin Rundle to graduation, sixth year head coach Chris Perkins is looking to a mixture of returners and newcomers to add their names to the points list this season.

A great opportunity lies ahead for the 2012 Morrisville State College field hockey team, as they make the final preparations for the season opener scheduled for Saturday. With just eight returning to the roster from last season, second year head coach Becky Osier, believes that the addition of 11 new faces to the squad will guide the program in the direction of success in 2012.

Morrisville State College head coach, Becky Osier, has named Amy Mitchell assistant coach of the field hockey program for the 2012 season. She will be working with the defensive unit and goalkeepers this season. Mitchell played four-years for Kings College as a defender, starting three seasons. The co-captain and two-time Most Valuable Player for Kings was a three-time Middle Atlantic Conference All-Academic Team member. Mitchell also earned National Field Hockey Coaches Association Academic Team honors.

Morrisville State College head volleyball coach, Fred Wallace, has announced the addition of Juleah Vedder as assistant coach of the women’s program for the 2012-13 season. Vedder comes to Morrisville State from Westmoreland High School, where she served as assistant coach for the varsity program last year. A four-time North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) first team selection and two-time NEAC Player of the Year, Vedder set numerous records as a four-year starter at SUNYIT as an outside hitter, including kills, digs and service aces.

Final preparations are underway for the football season at Morrisville State, as they are scheduled to open the 2012 campaign at noon on Saturday, Sept. 1 against Wilkes University on the Morrisville State campus.

Four have been selected to lead the Morrisville State football squad, as seniors Jack Glen (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Tim Hammond (Hudson Falls, N.Y.) along with juniors Jeremy Stewart (Moravia, N.Y.) and Nate Ryan (Staten Island, N.Y.) have been named captains for the 2012 season.

Morrisville State College fall student-athletes took a break during preseason workouts Friday to assist with new student move in day on the campus, kicking off the 2012-13 athletic department community service efforts for the upcoming year. Student-athletes from the field hockey, football and men’s soccer programs offered assistance unloading moving trucks and helping new students move items into their dorm rooms, as Morrisville State welcomed the class of 2016.

The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) released its preseason football coaches poll, selecting Morrisville State College to finish eighth overall in league play in 2012. The Mustangs compiled a 1-9 overall record in 2011, 1-8 in the NJAC, posting the league win over Western Connecticut State. Opening preseason camp Tuesday, Morrisville State returns 17 to the starting lineup this season, including all-conference selections Nate Ryan (Staten Island, N.Y.) on the offensive line and Jeremy Stewart (Moravia, N.Y.) in the secondary.

Morrisville State College head football coach, Terry Dow, recently announced the addition of Travis Greene to the coaching staff for the 2012 season. He will oversee the cornerbacks. Greene comes to Morrisville from the Arizona Rattlers, an Arena Football League team, where he served as an assistant coach and operations intern last season. While with the Rattlers, Greene was responsible for assisting in scouting, conducting defensive line drills, and assisting the coaching staff with several day-to-day organizational operations.
