Five young, local entrepreneurs will share their business success stories during Morrisville State College's Entrepreneur's Jam March 22. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 1 p.m. in the Little Theatre of the John W. Stewart Center for Student Activities (STUAC). Speaking are:

Morrisville State College will host prospective students and their families during an open house on Saturday, April 14. The college will offer a variety of activities designed to introduce students to Morrisville State College and assist them with their college search process.

For the second year, Morrisville State College has received national recognition for its commitment to community service. The college was among colleges and universities recently named by President Barack Obama to the 2012 Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for its campus/community partnership.  

The Morrisville State College athletics department has named Keely O'Hara (Cazenovia, N.Y.) it's Mustang Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 11. O'Hara notched two blue ribbons in the final hunt seat equestrian show on Saturday, claiming the top honor in the open equitation on the flat and open equitation over fences classes, while qualifying for the regional championships in both.

The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced today the 2012 NABC Division III All-District teams and coaches, naming Morrisville State sophomore Mickey Davis (Jamesville, N.Y. / Jamesville-DeWitt) to its East All-District second team. The NABC recognizes the best men's collegiate basketball student-athletes and coaches in the division, as selected by member coaches of the association.

After nearly a decade of planning and fundraising, the Morrisville State College Equine Rehabilitation Center (MSCERC) recently welcomed its first horses. A public open house is scheduled for April 28, from noon to 3 p.m., at the modern facility which offers equipment and rehabilitation techniques to keep healthy horses conditioned and to help injured equine athletes recover, post-injury or post-surgery.

The Morrisville State College hunt seat team finished the regular season Saturday, recording 35 team points to claim third place at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association invitational held in Morrisville. Skidmore and Colgate topped the team competition with 39 team points to claim the show's top honors.

The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) office announced its player of the week selections for the week ending March 4, naming four from Morrisville State its players of the week in the sports of men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse and softball.

Morrisville State College's Office of Workforce and Development will host a job expo, A Pathway to Success, in the Hamilton Hall gym on March 28, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. During the expo, representatives from various companies will be available to answer questions about their organizations, hiring practices, and potential part- and full-time positions and internships they have available. The event is free and open to the public.

The Morrisville State College hunt seat equestrian team earned reserve high point team honors behind a 33 point team performance Saturday at the Hartwick College Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) show held in Otego. Skidmore won the show with a collective 41 team points. Colgate was third with 32.

The Morrisville State College western equestrian team added another honor to the program's success on Sunday, completing the 2011-12 regular season as the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Zone 2, Region 3 Champions, and advancing eight riders to the national semi-final competition. Morrisville State is the 2011-12 year end high point team and will represent the region at the semi-finals on March 24 and 25.

The Morrisville State College women's lacrosse team lost their season opener Saturday afternoon against the visiting Elmira College Golden Eagles, 13-8. Morrisville State is now 0-1, while the Eagles rise to 1-0 this season.

The Morrisville State College women's softball team improved to 3-1 overall on the season following a double header sweep of SUNY Cobleskill Saturday at the Field of Dreams Sports Complex in Schuyler by final scores of 11-1 and 15-7. The losses drop the Fighting Tigers to 1-3 on the season.

The Morrisville State College men's lacrosse team faced their first loss of the season against SUNY Oswego on Saturday afternoon, 15-7. The Mustangs are now 1-1 while the Lakers are now 1-0.

The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced its player of the week selections, naming Morrisville State student-athletes, Andrew Stein (Oswego, N.Y.) and Shelby Wood (Duanesburg, N.Y.), its men's and women's lacrosse players of the week for the week ending March 18.

A local teacher is among those who received the 2012 Terri Lynne Lokoff/Children's TYLENOL® National Child Care Teacher Award. Cynthia Wickens, of Sherrill, a preschool teacher at the Children's Center at Morrisville State College, Inc., is among 52 recipients, six from New York state, who received the prestigious award which is based on teachers' commitment and dedication to children they serve.

The Morrisville State College athletics department has named men's basketball guard, Kyle Gordon (Riverhead, N.Y.) it's Mustang Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 26. Gordon was instrumental to the team's success as they claimed the 2012 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship title this weekend, posting two-day totals of 26 points, seven rebounds, eight assists, four steals and six 3-pointers.

Jean Boland, vice president for administrative services and information technology at Morrisville State College, has been named to the AT&T College & University Advisory Council.

Additional information became available this afternoon for the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Regional game between Morrisville State College and Middlebury College. Tickets for the contest are $6 per adult, $3 for students, and go on sale at 10 a.m. Tuesday morning at http://boxoffice.middlebury.edu/index.php or by calling the box office at 802-443-6433. Tickets not purchased by Morrisville State fans will be made available to the general public by noon Thursday.

The Morrisville State College Theatre Department and Student Government Organization (SGO) will present the musical, Cole, in the Little Theatre of the John W. Stewart Center for Student Activities (STUAC) on the Morrisville State College campus. Show times are: March 16, 17, and 22-24 at 8 p.m. A matinee performance will be held March 18 at 2 p.m.

Morrisville State College will be making their first ever appearance in the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship Tournament, and as announced in the selection show held at noon today, will face Middlebury College in the first round of the Regional Bracket. Morrisville State (19-8) earned the automatic qualifier to the NCAA's after defeating Penn State Harrisburg on Sunday for the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship Title.

The Morrisville State College men's basketball team battled back from a seven point deficit late in the second half to overcome Penn State Harrisburg by a 76-72 final and claim the 2012 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship Tournament Title, earning the institution's first ever bid to the NCAA Championship Tournament.

The Morrisville State College men's lacrosse team opened the 2012 season Saturday afternoon with a 10-8 non-conference victory over host SUNY Brockport at Nazareth College in Rochester.

The Morrisville State College men's basketball team advanced to the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship final Sunday, defeating Penn State Berks by a 86-79 final in the second semifinal of the tournament held in Morrisville.

The Morrisville State College softball team opened the season against Lyndon State College on Feb. 20 at the Adirondack Sports Complex in Glens Falls. The Mustangs went 1-1 on the day, winning the first 4-1 and losing the second 9-1 in six innings.
