Morrisville State College staff member named to AT&T College & University Advisory Council

Jean Boland, vice president for administrative services and information technology at Morrisville State College, has been named to the AT&T College & University Advisory Council.



Boland, of Canastota, has worked at Morrisville State College for 18 years. The AT&T College & University Advisory Council is an AT&T customer advisory board for gaining client insight on the products and services that meet the business needs of the industry. It is comprised of a broad mix of members from colleges and universities of all types and sizes to get wide institutional perspective on both Wireline and Wireless solutions.



Council members contribute first-hand knowledge and perspectives to AT&T's leadership regarding key challenges, issues, initiatives and business drivers and develop actionable strategies and initiatives to advance educational processes, enhance student life, share best practices and forge ongoing strategic relationships. The council also helps AT&T develop solutions for competitive differentiation and effective marketing initiatives.



Through their service on the council, members have the opportunity to maintain a unique and in-depth understanding of AT&T's business objectives, product and marketing strategies, and competitive environment.



Throughout her career at Morrisville State College, Boland has been noted for her leadership and vision in bringing innovative technology to enhance the academic experience for students and the college. She was instrumental in implementing technology initiatives including the RayLink wireless project that brought Morrisville State College national recognition as “America's Most-Wired College,” by Yahoo! Internet Life Magazine, comprehensively replacing land-line phones in residence halls with cell phones for each resident student, and deploying a campus-wide wireless network, Meru 802.11n, the fastest wireless solution of its kind in the world.



In addition to serving on numerous advisory councils in the past, Boland presented at the Educational Computing and Wireless Communication for the 21 Century Conference for all of higher education in the United Kingdom, held in London, and was a keynote speaker at the 2nd Europe, Middle East and Africa ThinkPad University Fly-In in Dubai.



Boland was also a 2009 recipient of the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Professional Service which recognizes outstanding job performance by professional staff in administrative positions and those who have transcended the normal definitions of excellence.



Boland earned a master's degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a bachelor degree in computer and information technology from Colgate University.



Prior to her employment at Morrisville, she worked for well-known companies in the computer and electronics industry, including Hewlett-Packard and General Electric.



Known for its groundbreaking technology initiatives, Morrisville State College was one of the first in the nation to integrate laptops, wireless technology and cellular phones into its campus technology plan.
