Morrisville State College recognized nationally again for campus/community partnership

For the second year, Morrisville State College has received national recognition for its commitment to community service.



The college was among colleges and universities recently named by President Barack Obama to the 2012 Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for its campus/community partnership.

 

Launched in 2006, the President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll annually recognizes higher education institutions that reflect the values of exemplary community service and achieve meaningful results in their communities.



Morrisville State College has a strong history of serving its local community through volunteering, service-learning and civic engagement. The college was also named to the 2010 President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll.



In April, the college will lead its annual brigade where students team up and volunteer to perform an array of tasks and services needed by residents in neighboring areas.



The Corporation for National and Community Service, which administers the Honor Roll, is a federal agency that engages more than 5 million Americans in service through its Senior Corps, AmeriCorps and Learn and Serve America programs. It also leads President Barack Obama's national call to service initiative, United We Serve.
