The Morrisville State College athletics department has named men's basketball guard, Kyle Gordon (Riverhead, N.Y.) it's Mustang Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 26.
Gordon was instrumental to the team's success as they claimed the 2012 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship title this weekend, posting two-day totals of 26 points, seven rebounds, eight assists, four steals and six 3-pointers.
On Saturday, in the semifinal victory over Penn State Berks, Gordon came off the bench to lead the team in scoring, collecting 16 points, four rebounds, three assists and a steal, while hitting 6-of-7 shots made, including three from beyond the arc. In the title game against Penn State Harrisburg on Sunday, he added 10 points, including three made from downtown, while adding three rebounds, three steals and a collegiate single game best five assists, en route to being named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
The senior is a graduate of Riverhead High and is majoring in technology management at Morrisville State College. He is the son of Maria Bailey and Ted Gordon of Riverhead.
