The State University of New York Board of Trustees today appointed Richard J. Carreno, of Manlius, N.Y., interim president at Morrisville State College. He is serving currently on a part-time basis as assistant to the president.
His appointment is effective Jan. 13, 2011.

The Morrisville State College men's ice hockey team fell 6-3 to host and sixth nationally ranked Manhattanville College Sunday afternoon in non-conference action, dropping the Mustangs to 6-5-1 overall on the season.
The Valiants held a 2-0 lead after two periods of play before both teams exploded for seven scores in the final twenty.

The Morrisville State College men's basketball team picked up a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory Sunday afternoon, rolling over Penn State Abington by a 94-58 final in Morrisville.
Morrisville State shot 52.9 percent from the floor and raced out to a 48-30 lead at the break, fueled by 15 first half points from Dwayne Wade (Beacon, NY), adding 46 second half points en route to the win.

Fourteenth ranked Castleton State hockey tallied four first period goals en route to a 9-2 victory over Morrisville State College Saturday night at the Saint Michael's Holiday Classic in South Burlington, Vermont.
Morrisville State took the one goal lead 3:55 into the first on a power play score by Alex Tillaart (Ashburn, ONT) but Castleton rattled off nine straight for the decisive non-conference win.

David Rogers has been named vice president for academic affairs at Morrisville State College. Rogers, of Nelson, N.Y., has served as dean of the college's School of Business since June 1999. During that time, he has been instrumental in providing leadership for curriculum and program development and has provided strong guidance for the department.

Tied at 26 at the break, SUNYIT started the second half with a 15-2 run in the first six minutes of play, outscoring the Mustangs 43-16 in the final twenty.

Trailing by two at the half, Morrisville State outshot the Wildcats a season best 52 percent compared to SUNYIT's 30.6 percent from the floor in the second half, posting 35 points en route to the victory.

D3hoops.com announced yesterday its Team of the Week, presented by Scoutware, naming Morrisville State College freshman forward/center, Nijah Townsend (Bronx, NY) to its women's team.
The Team of the Week is a weekly honor roll in its 14th season that recognizes the top performance at each of the five playing positions in basketball from the previous week.

The Morrisville State College western equestrian team posted 18 top place finishes Saturday as they swept competition with two show wins on December 4 at the Morrisville arena.
In the morning show, Morrisville State posted 10 blue ribbons in five classes to claim high point team honors with 35 points. Cobleskill was reserve high point team with 26.

Rahim, of Syracuse, assistant professor of entrepreneurship and small business management, received a 2010 Entrepreneurship Teaching Excellence Award from the Experiential Classroom XI Program and has also been named a 2011 Beyster Institute Scholar Fellow.
