Penn State Berks posted two late field goals to edge host Morrisville State College in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action Saturday afternoon, posting the 65-62 victory in Morrisville.
With Morrisville State leading by as many as four in the second half, Berks clawed their way back into the game, taking the lead with 1:33 to go on a Michael Perone jumper for the one-point advantage. Shawn Green added a lay-up with 16 seconds remaining to seal the victory for the Nittany Lions.
Dontez Reid led all scorers, tallying 24 for Berks, hitting 6-of-10 from behind the arc. Green added 12 to the Nittany Lions totals, with Thomas Smith netting eight, and snaring 11 boards.
Kyle Gordon (Riverhead, NY) led the Mustangs efforts, tallying 11 points and seven boards, as Wayne Turner (Brooklyn, NY) added 10 points. Kucjok Ater (Syracuse, NY) contributed nine points, assisting four.
Morrisville State held a one point advantage at the break, but shot just 21.4 percent from the free throw line in the second half in the loss.
The Mustangs (3-7, 2-3 NEAC) return to the court tomorrow, hosting Penn State Abington at 2 p.m. in Morrisville.
